130 Mph back then was very fast! even some cars today can't do that. It's sad they dont make em like this anymore. I bet if the company was arround today it would be the best
So after that, Mercedes and Volvo became the safest cars. Seatbelt, crumple zone, Airbag, ABS, safety steering rod and so on. Most of them are patents of the Mercedes head engineer Béla Barényi.
They killed his companey , stole stole the companey's inovative idea's & used them on there car's. Then sold the idea's to foreigner's ( AND LOW AND BEHOLD) imports are now possibly better than vehical's made in U.S.A. ! I say possibly because, I just can't beleave their idea's are better than our's. We use to make every thing now it's all made in china, japan, india, mexico DAM CHEAP LABOR & U.S.A. GREED!
It was 1948 - It was capable of 130MPH and got over 20MPG? Hmm, flash forward 60+ years to 2010 and the auto-makers are all bitching and whining about how "difficult" it is to get good gas milage on cars. What a crock of shit. Tucker is another example of surpressed or destroyed or "shelved" technology. It was a threat to the powers that be and they wanted a monopoly on power and technology and control. ROLLED 3 TIMES at 95MPH? I saw a 2008 Mercedes SL 500 rolled just onced - it was DESTROYED!
cars have to be "destroyed" after a crash, thats how they absorb energy to safe passengers lifes. Compared to any modern car with 166hp 20mpg isn't good. You can buy a modern diesel Car with 200hp, 150 mph 30mpg. Americans always had convienient, huge cars with automatic (which wastes a lot of gasoline therefore it was never popular in Europe). But american cars never had been smart.
incredible posting !! with fantastic details ... thank you so much !
fantastic video!! Thanks so much for uploading. It was awesome to learn all the great engineering developments that turned up in later cars-- that took credit for them too.
what happened to this car is the big 3, gm, chrisler, ford, and others put tucker out of business because the car was to good. you dont build a better mouse trap if your the mouse
@nightmathzombieethan not a miracle at all.just a car with very good equipment and good features like the disc brakes and the moving 3rd headlight.a great car no doubt.but not a miracle....
@x0druid0x The 1971 HQ Holden in Australia was the first mass produced non-prestige car in the world to have seatbelts fitted front and rear as standard.
Thank you very much for sharing with us this wonderful film from Tucker Company, it´s amazing and instructive from 1940s spirit in industrial design and engineering.
Would the Tucker have been able to take over the automotive industry? Maybe, maybe not. But had the company been given the chance to build the car, and given the money and the time needed to build the car, it may have been an alternative to what Detroit auto makers were building at the time.
@Seattlecarnut capitalism is all about destoying your competion, because money and power is more important than people and the environment, that's the American way, so much for freedom and its still happening today, most american cars are still rubbish.
@idak12 I agree. Unfortunately, that's how America became what it is now. Instead of providing what we, the customers want in our products, they provide us what they think we want.
@idak12 WRONG. "Capitalism" is what made America great. It is the BEST economic system known to man. What you are talking about it "Corporatism". Corporatism is the enemy, and it's worse today than ever. Too many people are using the word "Capitalism" to describe Corporatism. They are NOT the same thing. One is good, and the other is bad...
@Thirdgen83 Im not wrong, you sound like a dictator, America great, have you walked around Detroit lately, . Did the economic melt down of 2008 just slip your memory. Why don't you fully explain what capitalism is then. What happened in 2008 was that capitalism or something different.
@idak12 "A dictator"?? YOU sound like a socialist or communist! America WAS a great nation It got that way from Capitalism , and traditional American VALUES. It DID NOT get that way from redistribution of Wealth and WELFARE.. I shouldn't need to explain what Capitalism is. If you're that damned ignorant, look it up in the Dictionary. Only a FOOL would blame the economic melt-down on "Capitalism". You mean it waited 200 YEARS to collapse? How long did Communism last in the Soviet Union??...
@Thirdgen83 Who caused every economic meltdown since the Industrial revolution, it wasn't the workers or the poor, my bossy smartarse dictatorial friend, what good is all that profit, when the air you breath is polluted ,the water you drink, filled with chemicals, So why isn't America a great nation now then.
@idak12 --Wally of Australia, you're right, the people of USA have long been propagandized as to the merits of 'capitalism'. Both the terms Capitalism and communism are jewZionist creations, --tools by which to criminally achieve their quest to enslave the world; --a goal these primitive-minded warmongering NWO terrorists are realizing, --owing the naive have bought-in to their long deception.
