Now I've just discovered this form of racing so pardon my ignorance. But what is the point of this? I'm not meaning that in a derogatory fashion. I am quite serious. Is it like American Demolition Derbies where the last car running wins, or is there an actual race taking place while people are getting bashed where the fastes person to complete 10 laps or so wins?

@SpookyKidDesigns yep, there are a set amount of laps the cars have to complete, can be 10 - 15 normally. and the drivers are allowed to crash, obviously there are rules, no hitting the drivers door, or passengers door at excessive speeds etc. the person to complete the set laps wins, but with the drivers

@dalags being allowed to crash it makes the sport more interesting, so you could have someone with a race engine, setup, good tyres, but if someones out there that wants to stop them, then they could get destroyed within the first lap :D

Mine is the Dorking Drunks hearse seen in the fresh shots, owed me a grand sat on the track with prep, tyres, engine, diesel and night away money. All for 5 laps and worth every penny

Is there a specific reason why everyone has gone for a classic car instead of cars that are around 10 to 15 years old?

@RPKGameVids the old ford granadas are more competetive in the racing. they are usually prepared quite well for world final. in other events, mondeos and more common modern cars are raced, but just special events like the world final, drivers wnat to make that special effort!

Great footage. I love banger racing, but it does make me a bit sad when the last few of a breed are killed (Granada's in this case). We'll miss them when they're gone and the prices of the remaining few will rocket. Mark 1 Escort for less than £4K? - no chance, but 15 years ago thousands will have died on the short circuit : (

Yeh that was a bit harsh of me. Just pisses me off when I see rare cars destroyed for fun. Also so many Granadas etc have been nicked and ended up on the track (not blaming you fer that!), and that really boils my piss. Stick to racing 90s rubbish I say, if you can find anything RWD that is...
