As you know, I adore Agnetha. That extended, tight close-up on her face was truely captivating. Her face has always been very emotive. Her eyes expressing so much, as her voice does.
I've seen (and favored) a multi-part interview with her, originally aired on Swedish TV I believe. Someone was kind enough to translate it into english, using subtitles. I think she is one amazing lady. Frida too, but Agnetha's special to me.
Hi Mark - yes there's some really good camera work here, giving some great closeups of Agnetha for her solo parts and then cutting back to both girls doing their nice dance routine in their unique long cat dresses for the chorus! I've seen that interview too, I think its from around 2004 and found it interesting.
I just watched ABBA In Concert on DVD. One of the extras was an interview with someone who works for EMI (if I remember correctly).
Anyway I discovered that I've been mispronouncing Agnetha's name for, well, ever. LOL! Her first name, I mean. I have rather pronounced ADHD, and it's hard for me to remember how to pronounce some names and words.
Yes indeed, this is a very nice artistic performance of this famous song! The girls dancing and outfits are eye catching, and Agnetha's lead singing and close-ups are outstanding!
Yes, this is a very pleasing performance of this well known classic song Deb. The visual presentation of their songs was always important to Abba. The girls look great in their unique long cat dresses, and their sidewards dance routine to the music is just perfect!
Glad to be of service Susana. This is one of Abba's most famous songs, it was their first big hit after Waterloo. Abba proved they had survived the curse of winning Eurovision!
You haven't missed too much from me Tony. I've been taking timeout to get deal with plenty of things. Its 3 weeks since I did this vid, so I'm overdue another one. This classic song and excellent performance is perfect to refresh anyone's mind as to why we all love Abba!
That's right, there are lots of hits on each album and even the non-hit album tracks are top class! Agnetha is the finest female singer there has ever been, and also a brilliant song writer as well!
Hi Matilda, yes this is a great song and Agnetha does the lead singing brilliantly. Both girls look really super in their unique long cat dresses. Take care Matilda and hugs from your good friend John.
Always loved SOS, and they had so much energy in this presentation. 1975 was a special year for me personally, and this was a very special song! Oh, to have those days back again! Thanks for posting John (and) the great additional information I always enjoy reading on your vids.
Thanks Dallas, yes this is their classic song style, where they gradually build up the tension, and then all 4 suddenly launch into the chorus - singing and dancing! I got engaged in 74 and married in 76, so 1975 was pretty good for me too. There was plenty of info to impart on this one, its one of their most definitive songs!
Chears Xem, this is the song where Agnetha established her ability to sing lead vocals with her "crying voice"! Its one of their big classic hits, that eveyone knows!
Hi Laura, yes this is a very polished performance by the group of the song that re-established them internationally after Eurovision. It's one of their classics that everyone knows! The unusually long cat dresses and the sidewards-on dance routine are both eye catching here. Abba always gave as much importance to visual presentation as to the song itself!
Yes its very well presented visually for quite an early performance of this song Shay. The cameraman deserves an award for the excellent close-ups like 0:20, which have framed her pretty face perfectly. Agnetha is completely unaffected by this attention and hardly blinks. Not many sing this close to the camera, she does it often in other performances too, that's real confidence!
Good evening my friend Susie. Yes those dresses are unusually long, but Abba were different in everything they did. The short version of them is as short as these are long! Maybe it depended on the audience which one they wore. I like to give all the background information for each vid, it makes it much more complete for the viewer to know the song history and performance setting.
She certainly does Rustie, both in the nice close-ups for her solo verses and when she's singing and dancing the chorus in her unusually long blue cat dress!
Thanks Carole, there's a perfect mix of classical style keyboards and pop here which makes this melody stand out! Benny gradually builds up the tempo with Agnetha's vocal help for the dramatic launch into the chorus, which makes it so memorable!
Hi Jackie, yes Agnetha has the natural ability to express her feelings in her singing, which helps make this such a memorable song. Her singing range is outstanding throughout her career!
Cheers Bill, there's plenty of enticing close-ups of beautiful Agnetha singing pleadingly here, I think we'd all answer her SOS! This song defines the unique "wall of sound" Abba achieved by overdubbing the girl's voices, which made their music very popular everywhere!
Hi Jess, yes the visual performance was as just as important to Abba as the song itself, their whole approach was brilliant! This is one of their most memorable songs, but they did plenty more unforgettable ones. Cheers, from John.
Cheers Gustavo, this is a very pleasing performance from the group at this quite early stage in their career. They've got their routine perfected already.
Hi Mike, and so does Agnetha's singing! This song firmly established her wonderful singing voice wordwide. Everybody knew about the beautiful blonde with the golden voice after this one!
Hej 'aleq3'. The "SOS", "So Long" and "Alley Cat" videos/performances were filmed on the locations of the Danish Radio (DR) in what was called TV-Byen (TV-City) in Copenhagen/Denmark 1975. The show was called 'Omkring et flygel' (Around the piano) and the host was Bent Fabric - the composer of "Alley Cat", which was a US #1 many years ago and gave him a GRAMMY. In Scandinavia Bent Fabric only uses his real name Bent Fabricius-Bjerre. He's 84 years old today and still going strong with his music.
Cheers Jim, this is a really nice performance by the group that all ages would love. It's a pleasure to find all this background info, Abba were impressive wherever they went. I've hardly found any negative info so far, that shows just how good their songs and performances were!
Oh, and the blonde, Agnetha, really nice! :D

Few groups ever produced whole albums with as many hit songs on an LP album as ABBA did.
They truly were a class act, especially Agnetha.
