The Native Americans of the South already had an Advance Civilasation like Inca and Aztec Empired so which why it was easier to odopt some European customs but President Evo Morales of Bolivia is wants to do it like the Asians do. Westernise/modernise in a way but re-learn and keep native language and religion after all despite westernisation in Asia not very much Asians converted to Catholism or completely replace their own language with a European language.

Reservations are socialism in America. If a native wants to open a business in Utah, Colorado or New Mexico he/she has to go to Window Rock, Arizona for permission. Most times you have to be related to the persons in a position to approve or deny business development. A native cannot have a business in his/her own home-it is against "indian law". So much talk from Obama about business owners getting help but not on reservations it is banned. Reservations=100+ year old failure for all involved

Most if not all reservations are unstable for businesses who need to make a profit while providing jobs. Most native leaders have no business leading anything, no experience in business development. Shirley as a "leader" blames Obama yet he knows nothing of reservations competing with neighboring cities for businesses given tax breaks by governors and mayors. Most native leaders on the navajo reservation cannot even read or write english let alone undertake business contracts. hahahahaha

MILE: I don't think you understand Affirmative Action. The ONLY thing that Affirmative Action ever did for African-Americans was open some doors for employment or helped kids get in colleges. What made you think that African-Americans received a bunch of freebies? Also, FYI, Affirmative Action was instituted for ALL minorities and women. The biggest benificiaries of Affirmative Action has been white women. On the other hand, I think that the BIA should be dismantled. It's not helping Natives.

@Lochee1000 As I said, better houses, health care and education for Indians. And government should stimulate demographic growth rate among Indians. Indians should be at least 18 % of total US population, because German Americans make up 17 %. Indians languages should be officially recognized as regional languages beside english, as in Mexico, who beside spanish has 63 regional languages.

Why not making AFFIRMATIVE POLICY FOR INDIANS, as for Afroamericans since 1960's?

Since President is mulatto it doesn't matter anymore for Afroamericans.

What we need is Affirmative policy for indians - free and quality health care, education on native language and water and electricity supply for every indian house. Also, better job opportunities. That would make every tribe to flourish again!

@milekrizman Civil Rights are not for African Americans...they are for all Americans. It was the AA community that was fueled that movement. Anway, the Civil Rights Movement is already in effect, is already law. Where it fails is in NDN country and there are many reasons for that. We need a specialized law for our needs due to our special relationship with the U.S. govt. that no other people have.

@hwiseman1 I mean, look, I have nothing against Germans, but German Americans make up 17 % of total US population. Why Indians wouldn't make up 18 % of total US population? And there should be every third senator of Indian origin from that particular state. And there should not be only english taught in schools, but also native languages. Take Indonesia, where president was raised. There you have Bahasa as a national language beside about 270 regional languages. There is example.

MELLOW: Understand your angst, but keep in mind that Native people today are in a bitter fight for survival. I'm not saying that it's right that some Natives have negative attitudes, but some half-breeds have brought disgrace on the Native community. In addition, some have helped to rape Native cultures. We as mixed bloods need to be respectful and Native honoring. This is more than just an 'exotic' designation. This is about helping uplift our Native relatives. Many of them are hurting.

@JOSUE1987 Because many Mexicans DO NOT WANT TO BE CLASSIFIED AS INDIANS! It goes back to Spanish history. There are those of us mixed bloods like Black Indians who nobody wants to claim...then there are damned near fullbloods in Mexico and the borders who deny it. I know of full Maya who call themselves "mestizos" or "mixed" but never Indigenous peoples. They are in denial. Doesn't help much when we have 99% whitebloods running our tribal nations.

Yes, as a native american myself I truely believe that the nations need a lot more done. My personal oppinion due to the facts is that the tribes show the true depth of the bad economy than anything else. The natives have been ignored the true help they need. I will suffer for the cause to see a healing come to pass. We have fought wars that have been long forgotten so no more native should die for freedom!!!! We have fought for freedom and have given all and still have been neglected

2. there are no Buffalo in North America, they are Bison

3. if your people had been subjugated and forced to live on infertile land, and become the American second class citizen, you would use any civil rights legislation to push for the rights of your family and people and attempt to claw back reparations from a government that once tried an ethnic and cultural cleansing of your people, I'd be surprised if they didn't want independence!
