  • Guy Fawkes disliked this!

  • 1:44 Watch the explosion again...and again...and again.

  • Now *that's* what I call an explosion!

  • The Mythbuster's reaction would've been so much funnier...

  • Religion makes people do the craziest s**t. Be it Catholic against Protestant or Musilim against Chirstian or Hindu against Musilum.

  • @STSWB5SG1FAN religion will always exist though. take out the gods and it becomes worship of the celeberties. or even worse science. science was one of the roots of the genocide of the jews during ww2. so called science proved they were less than human. we know better now....but if you say you have scientific evidence and look credible you can get people to ingest their own fecal matter

  • Battlefield 3, :3

  • CHUCK NORRIS SNEEZED!

  • That explosion makes every explosion I have ever seen on TV wimper into the corner. When you tell a Brit to blow something up, they blow the s*** right UP!!!!

  • I wish you could smell it lol

  • That's a tactical nuke for you!

  • The containment of the energy in a barrel of gunpowder or in this case the house of lords. The experiment showed the weakest point going first and then blast ripping through the building as this mass of energy tries to escape. If you notice on the old maps, there are other buildings besides the house of lords joined onto it, so there would have been more containment and therefore more pressure resulting in an even bigger explosion. It wouldnt have just been the house of lords but the whole site.

  • Guy Fawkes was stopped because of Ye Olde Health & Safety Rozzers ;0)

  • "Remember, remember, the fifth of November..."

Pretty irking when because of the movie people think Guy Fawkes was some brave fighter of freedom when he was all for enslaving humanity under the yoke of the Vatican Pope who for all he was concerned the papacy alone had divine "rights" and no other human.

  • @CrabTastingMan YOU ARE RIGHT! They did it in Fallout 3 too. A freindly supermutant escapes and you find out he used to be smart and read about ' Fawkes' a freedom fighter of some kind. Reality is he was about snuffing freedom out.

  • @CrabTastingMan Or perhaps he was a man fighting to stop persecution?

  • @skinni45 No, "they" didn't blow up the World Trade Center, terrorists took over a plane and it crashed into the "WTC".

  • holy shit, he couldve destroyed parliament with less than what he had

  • how much this experiment cost?

  • remember remember, the fifth of november

  • Hang on a second, 0:37 the pink guy dosn't have a right hand!

  • As an ex bomb tech..it's been a while since I've done a blast like that....

I can only imagine the cost the producers put out to show people what I used to see all the time...Love it...

  • @extech921 About a million is what I saw somewhere.

  • Too bad they didn't catch Timothy McVeigh or the 9/11 high-jackers like they caught Fawkes.

  • @TorgoNeedsLove they only caught the guy that should have gone through with it

  • Good on the makers for doing this for real....they could have taken the easy option and used a computer similation / CGI.

  • Fawks and V would be proud

  • - What do you think?

    - Killed him.

    I concur. ^^

  • In my opinion, Guy Fawkes wouldn't have been entirely successful. They would have all been rounded up, and met a similar end anyway; not to mention the heightened persecution of Catholics following it. There was a Catholic King after James anyway, albeit a very short reign, but blowing up some people that deserved blowing up wouldn't have achieved much unfortunately.

  • @pianor91

It would have been useless. With Catholics as only about 5% of the population at the time, mass persecution and executions would have likely wiped them out and made Britain a literally Protestant state.

  • @pianor91

Rounded up by who? You do know they were planning to usurp the throne as well right.

  • @eatwoodman Usurp the throne with James' daughter who would have no power whatsoever- she'd have been a puppet monarch. She later said that she'd have never taken it under those circumstances. They would have been rounded up by the authorities. Just by killing a few hundred people doesn't change the political scene in a matter of minutes.

  • @pianor91

does actually you just keep killing them until you get someone who shares your views.

  • wouldnt want to clear that mess up lol

  • If only this was in HD with more slow motion cameras!

  • bet yous wish he'd got away with it in 1605. lets keep the guy off the bon fire this year eh?

  • My village is right next to Advantica (now called GL group) my step-granda (46 years old) hepled build the building, and my Grandma helped find and purchas the gunpowder =D Oddly enough I didnt feel the shock wave =S

    I'm so proud =') lol

  • *Purchase

  • that would do it alright

  • wow, that building was shredded.

To think what would have happenned were this for real, not forgetting that the House of Lords is attatched onto other buildings withing the palace.

  • Does anybody if Guy Fawkes has any ascendants! I might have a little job for them! :D

  • @BRUTUALTRUTH Nope, no ascendants. My understanding is that Guy Fawkes appeared out of thin air one day without the procreation of any other living organisms. However, he may have living descendants that you could call upon for your little job, if he conceived offspring with a female of the human species, and that lineage continued to the present day.

  • 1:49

  • Best Michael Bay movie EVER.

  • Woah. That's all I have to say.

  • I said the same thing, I thought they should have lit it using a trail of powder (firing that electronically from a safe distance) and "decayed" some of it just to be completely accurate.

    Still good though.

  • 3:20 is awesome, you can hear the shockwave coming through the ground and see it coming through the air toward the camera

  • Did he get his gunpowder buy one get one free?

  • True. The det. timing would have an effect on the issue but figuing that, at minimum, 50% or more would "go up" and you'd still have killed everyone. The thing is that the thick walls would contain the explosion(s) and have forced those one or more blasts in one direction and that's upwards into the chamber above. Likely Fawkes would have killed most if not all there and the survivors, if any, would not be in any shape to do anything at all afterwards.

  • 1:58 is the best part, if you replay it multiple times you can see a cloud form as air and water vapour rushes away from the explosion. If you look at the grass you can see the shock wave move over it.

  • the roof as some kind of domino effect

  • @dim432 It's pretty though :-p

  • That is..just so wierd. Amazing but wierd!

  • oops wrong thumbs doown sorry

  • @chriswillb The shockwave spreads from one end of the building to another, very quickly. Take a look at the computer simulation of the blast that's done earlier in the programme.

  • jawdust3 needs to grow a sense of humour.

  • What the hell are you talking about?, "This kind of garbage entertainment serves to distract people from thinking about things that are actually exploding like houses and people in war torn countries across the globe."

people dying in war torn countries is on the news and in the papers all the time.......this was done to show the effects of the gun powder plot if they had succeeded, nothing more nothing less.

  • Yes of course! "Historical study"? Pah!

  • what is wrong with you, it's TV!

  • How can you be so thick? It was to see what would have happined if Guy got away with what he was trying to do. It's called History.

  • If they had suceeded, this would probably have been the greatest assassination in history. Killing the King and the whole parliamant and completely anhilating the building in the process.

I don't think there was ever such a big-scale assassination planed before or after.

  • I second that, "greatest assassination in history" yes sir. But saying that do we think we would be alive today?

  • why wouldnt we be?

  • Amazing...cool

  • such a huge explosion !!! the thing is if that happened in 1605 what would it be like today ? cos james 1st would have been dead ? hhmm all the same 5 stars :)p.s love bonfire night

  • love richard's reaction when he finds the green mannequin.

  • oh...my...god...

  • "heh heh, that's right C-4, I may be long in the tooth, but I've still got it!"

    -gunpowder.

  • It looked just like a computer simulation - I've yet to see a real explosion that beautiful. I'm guessing this is because of the relatively slow burn of gunpowder compared to, say. dynamite - it made things go flying instead of simply evaporating them.

  • Also, a lot of it could have been the containment and direction provided by the part of the concrete foundation that remained intact.

  • Beautiful.

  • that would off been even more powerful if the building was fully built. the open side allowed gas and pressure to escape, if it was fully contained in a solid building the pressure would of built up even more causing and even bigger explosion! that was well cool i wasnt expecting it to be that big!

  • it was fully built the two bigger walls were safety walls and the place it looked like there was a gap afterwards was only because the gunpowder completely destroyed it!

  • sorry i didnt see that gap but that wouldnt have affected it cause the actual explosion didnt really happen there the part where the explosion occured WAS fully built

  • Yes! James 1st would NOT have seen that coming! Why was Fawkes caught! Why! So unfair, the only honest man in Parlament

  • To be fair u stalled the gunpowder in metal barrows which would of had a bigger bang affect!

  • Holy Crap!

  • Thankyou for posting this!

  • ka boom

  • If you are watching this video your in 8 alpha and go 2 Saint Thomas The Apostle Collage

  • Boom Boom Shake Shake The Room...tick,tick,tick,BOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lol

  • hey the old guy with the digital camera is on future weapons :)

  • And that's what i call a proper fifth of november

  • Guy Fawkes, the only man to enter Parliament with honest intentions...

  • genius

  • KA-BOOM! Pwned the king!
