  • When i'm sad i play this song and i'm happy in like 10 seconds :D

  • I almost shit myself when the song suddenly ended at 10:00, but unshit myself when I saw there was a second part. Literally the scariest few seconds of my life.

  • 2;30 is simple is just oh my lordy, its the perfect mesh of sounds. Otherwise known as music. <3

  • The drumming is brilliant.

  • Honestly, this i way to complex musicially to be considered funk. Sorry, I am a diverse musician and this is my personal opinion.

    :(

  • my neighboors are like fuck youuuuuuuuuuu

  • chameleon, i swear, is the best funk/swing song in the world

  • @kaboodlehopper

    you'd be right.

    j.

  • I actually remember when my parents had this on 8-track tape! I could never remember the title to this until now. But like his other albums, pure funk, and masterpiece comes to mind to me. Herbie is a legend, and you can see why he continues to churn out serious music! Thanks for the post!

  • the harmony at the end is absolutely fantastic

  • I love how it sounds like it ends, but then the drummer's like "Nah man, this shit aint done yet!"

  • the 40,000+ people who only listened to part 1 should be ashamed

  • @EndWesternTyranny more like 100,000 :(

  • @EndWesternTyranny Their loss.

  • @EndWesternTyranny

    The 200,000 people

  • I think it's actually Mike Clark on the drums.

  • @nebaioth No, It's Harvey Mason - Mike Clark was Herbie's drummer on Thrust - Check out the original "Butterfly" - that's Mike's work.

  • i have thousands of this album

  • yes the drums are so sick and jazz+funk=pure musical fusion

  • Mason's drums is pure sickery.

  • yes Herbie is the man fantastic music

  • oh and its both jazz and funk. herbies favorite attributes of both. its jazz funk.

  • gettin OFF on those drums i LOVE the headhunters!!!

  • I can see why jazz critics say it's not jazz and they are right. It's Funk and that's awesome!!!

  • @happyface4444 But it's so steeped in improvisation that it ultimately goes back to jazz.

It's not a Miles Davis type of fusion - it's something else entirely. Very ethereal.

  • @JohnFordDanceTroupe Do Funk and Jazz have to be mutually exclusive though? Look at Roy Hargrove; labeled as jazz but is very funky as well.

  • @happyface4444 this is jazz baby no doubt , funky ,but jazz through ,and through . You have heard of Jazz Fusion right . Come on my man .

  • I don´t know what critics do you know but this is jazz: Funk Jazz / Fusion Jazz

  • @happyface4444 I call that Jazz Funk.. Later known as Acid Jazz. Incognito is one of the best current exponents. Their first record was called Actually "Jazz Funk"

  • @alobosk Incognito is a great band.

  • @happyface4444 I'd say it is as much modal jazz as it is based on a two-chord vamp in Bb Dorian. But very funky too!!! =)

  • @happyface4444 No man this is funky jazz

  • @happyface4444 It's not jazz, it's not funk, it's just awesome!

  • @happyface4444 also fuck anyone who tries to tell me what is and isn't jazz
