I picked up the commuter at amazon. It actually looks like part of the phone and makes the phone look more impressive. The fit into the oem holster is tight nad requires me to stretch the holster open and force it in. It did not slide in as easily as in this video. I have never used a screen protector because of the way they make the screen look but this one is not noticable at all although it does darken the screen a bit, almost like tint. I also picked up the discovery 975 bluetooth headset
Well, i thing both cases are good, depending on your lifestile, the commuter is a little bit more slim an looks good, gives you less protection than a defender, but looks good, and can be carried easily in your pocket, whereas the defender is tough built, for reeeeeally high impact use, but it cannot be carried inside your pocket confortably, you need to carry it in the clip outside the pocket
Thanks Tyler I was thinking of a good case to buy as the regular bold skin stretches after a time from constantly pulling it out of the leather holster.
Thank you for doing a comparison. Very helpful to people trying to decide. I've had my Commuter case for almost a year and am completely sold on it. I use it with the holster case that came with the phone and find that the snug fit only reinforces my sense of security. Again, TFS!
I bought both the Commuter and the Defender cases and I have to say they are two of the most exceptional quality cases I've had on any handset ever! The fit and finish is brilliant! The Defender is VERY robust and ruggedised and would be great for tradesmen, emergency services, etc. but is too big to fit in the suit pocket. The Commuter is suited to the indoor worker especially with the outer plastic making it easier to slip into your pocket. Just depends what you're after but they're both GR8!!
@TRD604 - it certainly does. This can be a bad thing I suppose when on a desk or in a car but makes putting it into and out of your pocket a breeze compared with any rubber/silicon cases (incl the Defender).
I'm confused as to which one to get. I don't want it to interfear with the keyboard at all. But I am pretty ruff on my phone. I also dont want something to bulky or that dosnt slide in and out of my pocket hard. Which one would u reccomend?
@gamerdude2122 you definitely want the Commuter. The Defender is too bulky for in the pocket and it doesn't slide in or come out easily because of the outer silicon. Screen isstill protected by the film from scratches in your pocket from coins etc but doesn't have the plastic protection so could still break from high drops onto concrete. Defender would save that. Although I found dust & crudd got between the handset screen and platic Defender case screen too easily and that was just annoying.
Thanks for Case review. Wasn't sure which one to buy, your video helps. The only negative I see is if you have to do a battery pull. Does the case interfere much with keyboard keys?
Well, concerning a battery pull, download the app quickpull, it simulates a battery pull, it works great, I have it. The commuter case doesn't interfere at all with the keys, the defender however does interfere slightly.
Does the commuter case fit in the defender belt hoster thing??? Please answer... :D

Does anyone find problems with dust getting stuck under the silicon and scratching up the chrome?

Question.
The speaker you talk into is on the bottom on the Tour. Doesnt this case cover it up??

thanks for this. i was wondering if the phone in the commuter would fit in my case that came with the bold 9700. It does! Thanks again.

Oh and thanks for this vid, which is what made me buy them in the first place! You have a $1000 handset so you may as well protect it properly...

does the commuter case make the 9700 more slippery? since the rubber case is on the inside.

That is the worst biggest ugliest case ever. Unless you walk around throwing it up against brick walls.

the Defender also makes the track pad slightly harder to use.
kn079 2 years ago
@tmhiott or just press alt+aA+del
kn079 1 year ago
you can reset the phone w/o pulling the battery but pressing the left "alt", right shift "aA", and del but simultaneously
