  • Hi Mr. Roberts

  • :) lol

  • nice one

  • Awesome video to learn about mitosis :) but trust me... synchronized swimming is nothing like this- more like 40 seconds underwater and upside down with quick leg movements and lifts and basically 3 minutes of hell..

  • suks

  • which swimming styles if done regularly will make you grow taller?

  • my teacher showed this to us!

  • we saw this in class XD

  • This is really cool!!! I have just finished my science protion on Mitosis and I really think this is a good way to show mitosis. Thank You!!!! :)

  • awesome! :D

  • HAHAHAHA that was the best!

  • This is really creative hahah

  • cute

  • haa!!! ending waz funnyy!!!!

    sexy party after words!!

  • great for teaching kids!

  • hahah, look at those spindle microtubules!!

  • (: It made me smile. hence smiley

  • Fabulous! There were centrioles and duplicated chromosomes and EVERYTHING!

  • Love this! I think it is a hoot!!

  • haha tetrad is an anagram of retard

  • actually... no. Two "T"s, one "R"

  • @CamMci Fail...

  • What music did you use in this video? I really like it ;D

  • It's Johann Strauss II's Blue Danube Waltz. :)

  • soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo funny!not lol

  • The very best.

  • Haha great! :)

  • so funny

  • Awesome! this is so funny!!

  • silly but fun.

  • the ending is the best part hahaha

  • lololol, I love it!

  • This was awesome!! lol

  • this is sooo cool...

  • i am so going to show this tomorrow during bio.

    awesome vid

  • So amazing! It's the talk of my bio class, really.

  • deliciously awesome

  • wicked, awesome

  • My only critique is that there should be an even number of chromosomes for this to be accurate. In mitosis, a diploid cell divides into two diploid cells. All diploid cells have an even number of chromosomes. This would resemble meiosis 2, but other than that this was amazingly creative.

  • Haha.. details, details! I think the swimming pool might have gotten a bit crowded :)

Heck, why not go for a tetraploid or hexaploid division?

  • I agree. As a high school biology teacher, I could not help but point it out. I did love the creativity. When I saw it the first time, I thought "Why hasn't anyone done this before!" I am definitely using it in my classes.

  • Thanks :)

If you'd like a higher resolution version to show to your class, I can send you one- just message me email, server, or mailing info. You can also look for it on the supplemental DVD of the new MBOC book, but I think that version is really grainy.

  • You should try doing a square dance for both mitosis and meiosis (perfect for grade 11 biology) ; )

  • Actually, I have done that.

  • Mightelroy is a nasty mammalcentric bigot. Haploid cells (like Dictyostelium...) need to do mitosis too.

  • @mightyelroy Haploid cells can undergo mitosis as well!!! How do you think a spore gives rise to a gametophyte? As a college genetics teacher I just had to point that out.

  • i am so gonna ace bio thanks to this.

  • genius!

    good work.

  • haha. my bio teacher showed me this in class today. soo funny x]

  • wicked

  • haha, very creative!

  • lol

  • Fantastic representation of mitosis! 5 stars from me ;)

  • Well done =D lol My sister tried explaining it to me i was like,,,okay...

  • that was good

  • crazy cool. nice pool.

  • Great job guys!

  • i don't think they were trying to impress with the synchronize swimming they were making a visual of how a cell seperates during mitosis

  • lol, seriously, get over yourself and realize this video's more a fun way to show science than waste time making fun of "synchro." You should really think before adding stuff like this to youtube.

  • someone failed biology!!!

  • omfg..... this is genius

  • Hahaha, great job guys

  • oh man. so i will most definatley think of this during the bio final tomorrow. lolz. noice.

  • somebody doesnt have a life!

  • ... who clearly is not someone who bothers scouring youtube for videos they don't like, then criticizing them :p

  • Rofl. Never would've thought to do that.

  • amazing shape of a pool. lol, i'll be thinking of you guys in my science exam tomorrow.

  • LOVE IT!

  • Just another reason to truly love science. WTF. XD

  • Hey guys!!! You are amazing. Im a biology teacher and I had never seen before such a clever way of presenting mitosis. Congratulations and keep on that path!

  • You guys are great. I wanna make synchronized swimming videos with you! Maybe next time you can tackle meiosis

  • Very creative, and biologically correct. Much more interesting to watch than the real thing, hahaha. Props for sticking science into something like swimming, and having it be plausible.

  • It's official! Synchronized Swimming Mitosis is on the supplemental DVD of Molecular Biology of the Cell, Fifth Edition. Chapter 17.5 - check it out! Of course, if anyone still wants a better quality version for their lecture/talk, I can make that happen.

  • haha, we watched this in bio. it's great.

  • ahahhh this is amazing

  • Great, very creative. We watched it in Bio.

  • GREAT! I'm going to use for my BIOL class!!

  • Wow, that was really creative!

  • that was good

  • hahaha, my biology class saw this today when we were watching another video. We convinced our teacher to click on it and we all thought it was great!

  • I'm in bio right now, I just found this and the whole class and teacher saw it. We all cracked up!

  • this is so good!

  • OMG! this video is really amazing. We may just have to do this ourselves and add it to the losbiobuddy list. hmmm... where can you find a cytokinetic shaped pool?

  • bwaaaaah hahahaa!

  • rofl we watched this today in biol in college...our tutor said they wasted their time making it so we shud waste ours by watching it XD

  • no life...

  • Really Awesome work. I have a big chapter test tomorow and I will def remember this one! Thanks!

  • Nice work

  • That is just so beautiful *sniff*. I wish I had my biology teacher's email, he'd love it.

  • nice

  • my science teacher should have showed that 2 us

  • greendayroxxmysoxx

  • how bout meiosis? cool video...thanks

  • best thing ever!

  • ha ha ha, love it!

  • My friend Laura from UF told me its meiosis not mitosis because of the tetrads.

  • I didn't think it was possible to combines my two loves: synchro and science. Awesome.

  • I am in love with whoever executed this.

  • haha wow this is great

  • that was so original!

  • Haha I think it's cool.

  • Wonderfull! what next ?

  • Pure 'gene'ius!!
