There are/were no stray dogs in many parts of the South (USA); there is/was no animal shelters and strays are shot on site by the local police. Pet owners have to be very careful.

Even in the rest of the USA, most animals are eventually CO'ed or injected to death. Nitrogen source for plants vs protein source for humans.

not everything has to be a caparison,cruelty to animals isn't exclusive to one region or another, if you want to find material of someone abusing a another living thing its easy access online, but making such blanket statements of how society works is ignorant, this portrayal of animal rights in the US is not reality, as for the south, In Louisianian stray dogs were very common and in no way were shot down by local police, such activity by any local officials would be an outrage to most lol
