@nascar2428 I want to say it's from Plymouth, Wisconsin based on the announcer's voice. The Shaffer family has been racing dirt IMCA's, sprint cars, and late models for decades in southeastern Wisconsin. I live here and attend the regional race events.
after the fire smoke went away and you could see the car i couldnt even tell where the engine was or anything anymore that was smashed to shit. good thing he is ok.
I've been wanting to see this wreck again I was sitting between the exit of turn four and the flag stand that fire was hot where I was sitting wouldn't want to be him should have shown the fight in the pits after the fact!
@ShadowKillah08 the wreck happened right in front of me i was 7 rows off from the fence this video missed erics car tumbling down the wall for the first 75 ft before the fire ignited and yes there was a brawl in the pits after the wreck i am unsure weather or not eric was a part of it or not
@davidallenroth just sheetmetal....not like the chassis was built terribly.....sheet metal on these cars will fall off after a little bumpin in one night...late models are all individually made by how the driver wants them made...drivers make their own body...
EXSACLY EVEN THO I AM ONLY 11 i So AgRee!!!dirt is my life i am planning to start raceing a sprint at eagle raceway when i am 16!!!DIRT IS MY THANG!!!!!!!Go Dirt Raceing!!!!!!!!
before you put out the burning puddle of fuel, extinguish the fire in the car where the driver is... track safety crews need some kind of cert. training to deal with this. ive seen some nasty things happen that didnt need to. saw a car stop directly UNDER the flagman once, and get destroyed by another car, and the flagman didnt notice until the crash.
was Eric Shaffer (for those who don't know who it is) injeried? Burned? If not then good, because we all do NOT want some1 injeried or burned, but glad that he wasn't killed, but a NASTY crash
Man, those were late-models. I race modifieds and I have had some spills that scared the hell outta me, but NEVER anything like that. Makes me wonder why we do this.....but then again I smile at the thought......what the hell is wrong with us, guys?????
The dumbasses at the track I race at would be lucky to find the car. Videos like this are hard for most drivers to forgget. It could be any one of us!
actually i believe the worse 1 ever was the late that hit a wall and the car spilit in 2 right down the middle and some how he walked away but yea thats a bad wreck there.
That tops when Tony Greener barrel rolled down the front stretch @ the late Silver Springs Speedway when I was a little girl. Holy cow - I've never seen a late model do that!
holy shit!

Props to the safety crew right on the scene. The driver was recovered and the fire put out in under a half minute.

@ShadowKillah08 False: The backstretch says Hartford Speedway. Plymouth did not have a backstretch wall untill 2011

@cbrakilr I doubt there was a fight. Eric looked a bit shocked. Stuff happens on the dirt.

@thundergirl23r
Maybe you should consider just staying in school, you cannot even spell yet. driving a racecar, shouldn't be a priority.(yet)
p.s. "THANG" is just wigger "slang"..( not allowed within 750 feet of a dirt track.)
kwik440 2 years ago
I recently flipped my car, and flipped on the roof, and the engine caught on fire, and the fire crew took like 5 minutes trying to get me out.
