@mepickulongtime I have an older minivan, so I just used what I had at hand--a Wonderbar and a large screwdriver to hold the door open, and a long stiff wire bent to fit through the door and toward the door lock, with a hook at the end to grab the lock. It took longer than a few minutes, but thankfully it worked. Now I've found my spare key, which I put back in my wallet for the next time I lock myself out.

@Baynham3 You could, but it would damage the door. Plastic wedges or a inflatable wedge is the way to go. You could use those plastic crowbars that they sell in auto parts stores for removing door panels and stuff.

You don't need the inflatable wedge for this, you can improvise a wooden wedge. I saw a locksmith doing this same thing with a piece of spring steel wire, no need for the pole either :)

I just did that and it work, some cars have a ruber band for water protection so is easier if you pull the door with a piece of wood. and pull the lock. thank for the video it same me some money.
