@EarthDefenceInferno Unfortunately GDF is only aviliable in english for PAL PS2. If you don't mind Japenese it was recently re-released on the PSP as 'Earth Defense Force 2 Portable' . However, EDF 4 is still in development at the moment, and I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't at least a partial remake of GDF. All we know atm is that it's being made, so it might be some time.

(Also if you haven't already go buy EDF:Insect Armageddon! It's not quite the same but it's still pretty fun!)

@MisterPhillby thats cool, i have EDF: insect armageddon and it is pretty different to the other games, but still fun. Lots of new stuff in it. I haven't heard of EDF 4, all i've heard of is GDF, Earth Defense Force 2, EDF 2017 and EDF:IA. what is EDF 4? why don't you do a walkthrough of EDF 2017 of EDFIA? Your videos are pretty cool and i like that you tell information about the weapons you are using. Great job!

@EarthDefenceInferno Thanks, I'm busy with Steambot chronicles ATM, but I'd like to do a walkthrough of 2017 eventually. EDF4 is the the sequel to 2017 (which was EDF3 in japan and the first gamein the series to get an american release). EDF1 and 2 were PS2 games that got released in europe as 'Monster Attack' and GDF respectively. I've got videos of MA on my channel. MA isn't worth playing, as 2017 is a straight remake of EDF1 (with elements grabed from EDF2) and is superior in every way.

@EarthDefenceInferno (ran out of spacce!) To explain further, Sandlot wanted to bring EDF1 and 2 to America, but SCEA thought the games were too low quality (they were budget releases after all) and refused. SCEE (europe) didn't have such qualms so they got a european release (with a reduced localisation budget no doubt).

In responce Sandlot developed EDF3 specificaly for an American audience. They released it on the 360 (the least popular console in Japan) and made it a retelling of EF1's plot

This game does look slightly more interesting than 2017 in that there are 2 characters. But IMO none of these characters will ever beat Storm 1 from 2017!!!

Also, is this game as ridiculously long as 2017 is as well?

@FEfan56 Unfortunately Essensiall games really cheaped out on the localisation and decide to just cut all the voice acting in the game rather than translate it. Infantry and Pale Wing can't hold a candle to Storm one.

However, it's at least as long as 2017, and has a bunch more enemies and environs. A HD remake with voicacting would blow 2017 out of the water.

@FEfan56 Oh and as far as I can tell 'Gigantors' refers to the big ants. The actual aliens are called 'the Invaders'. It's sort of inconsistent however.
