Gabriel's one of the most under estimated Rockers in history! His archive of great Music throughout the years speak for it's self!! He's up there with the best of them!
I can hardly hear what he is saying, because of the quality of the sound but otherwise it’s a interesting old piece of the early days, thanks for uploading ;-)
@MoveOverCasanova The whole "Up" album was pretty dark in fairness. And his cover of Arcade Fire's "My Body Is A Cage" is very dark. But I do agree with you....I love his earlier stuff.
@twtomwood123 yeah, he just lost it on that musical level, it´s ok, -- but his early stuff was really brillant, it was not catchy at first sight, but it was very personal, very daring and very cool
hey! I love gabriel and have done since I was 10 believe it or not, but listen , gabriels wife at the time wrote this, so give her credit. Yes fantastic production by gabriel as always, fan song by her
listened to his stuff for years, never paid much attention to this song, but i keep coming back to it recently...amazing song, powerful lyrics, i love it.
I have watched this about 10 times and I lve it every time> Seeing something this classic because someone was kind enough to share it is what makes YOUtube so great.
it's from his first solo album... loving known as "rainy windshield" the whole album is awesome however "scratches" the second is equally as good.. none of his first 4 are recognized as a title just 1, 2,3 and 4, the third would be "melt" it's odd but awesome~
in the second record of Peter Gabriel :p...Good for you...also look for indigo...that song may likes you as well as mother of violence...at least it likes me just as well
I've had that same CD sine '02, when the PG remasters 1st came out. Bought ti @ SAm Goody. Also, have the 2nd and 3rd S/T 1s by Gabriel. 1st is the best, though. IT sound the most like Genesis. Peter actually said in an interview 1ce that he wanted to have the Genesis sound on his 1st solo album but do things that Genesis wouldn't do

wish I could write stuff like this:
"with the dark soul
In coal she burn she burn
As I drove into the sun
Didn't dare look where I had begun
Lost among echoes of things not there
Watching the sound forming shapes in the air"

@missfits09
I always thought Peter Gabriel IV was called 'Security'.
degree7 2 years ago
@degree7 In the U.S. the record label thought having a FOURTH PG self-titled album was rather confusing. Geffen gave it that name, I believe.

After all the records Genesis sold, I doubt he was either "hungry" or "poor". "Tortured" maybe...
