It has taken me ages to track this down, from the first time I heard it and it had its hook in me.

However, after watching 'Revolutionary Road' on TV tonight in the U.K. and searching on You Tube I stumbled across it.

Its beauty lies in its simplicity. I could almost play it on piano myself.

I agree. But I must say, that it simply is his style of composing...all of his music sounds a bit similar but he's nevertheless a wonderful, very emotional composer who I really love and admire. Look at Hans Zimmer: Everyone loves him (just as me) but I must actually confess that some of his pieces sound almost exactly the same and they're not even in the same genre of movies!

As far as I know they're own renditions from songs from the beginning of the 20th century...these songs are very old and many jazz legends like Louis Armstrong sang it. But I'm not quite sure.

Imagine, Rahman got an Academy Award for that 'blunt' soundtrack for 'Slumdog Millionaire" but Abel Korzeniowski and Shigeru Umebayashi's score for "A Single Man", which is absolutely brilliant, was neglected.... The Jury IS tone deaf... apparently.... perhaps, they just accepted bribes

I think it's the imperfect cadences that do it. Very simple, elegant and beautiful. But ultimately unfulfilled. Like the relationship between Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in the movie.

they don't even bother to write them for her. it's just kate on the page. the casting decision is made before a budget is alotted. a middle-class white girl whose tits we get to see: kate winslet.
