The leftist media pundits simply couldn't find any dirty laundry to smear him with or careen his policies...so they constuctively kept his exposure to the American people to an absurd minimum during the 2008 Presidential campaign. I still made him my write-in candidate !
I am so glad there are such traditional conservatives like Ron Paul. Not this Neo-Conservationism that made the republican party lose credibility. What's wrong with a balanced budget, increased personal liberty, freedom? The bigger problem is the out of control government takeover of entire segments of the economy progressive movement. Handouts to special interests, whoever lobbies hardest at washington. who looks out for the people, our freedom, our personal liberty? Ron Paul! Go Ron Paul!
Ron Paul reaches out to the people, fights for us at Capitol Hill! If people knew more about whats going on with foreign policy he knows people will agree! Notice how Ron Paul dosn't just make personal attacks when there is debate, like Stein. He supports his positions, and is well informed on the issue, and makes it a priority to wake people up about what is going on. Go RON PAUL! We support you and are so glad to have you represent us the people, our liberty, our freedom! Not special interests!
Go Ron Paul! Paul advocates the intention of our founding fathers, free trade and working with nations, defending us, not nation building. Our foreign policy makes no sense. Ron Paul is completely right, in a huge deficit yet we maintain a military presence in hundreds of countries and bases around the world. nationbuilding, pre-emptive wars declared without approval by congress. 'War on Terror' is a joke. Ben Stein makes baseless accusations, of course Paul wants open discussion. Go RON PAUL!
Sorry SA. Americans are NOT moving in Ron Paul's direction. i can't remember a time when the loosing party has been happy with government. Until polls query every single American of voting age, their validity will remain dubious at best.
People who believe like RP aren't typical Republicans. The only reason RP is a republican is so he has a chance at getting heard and getting his ideas and views across. Both main parties are evil. Ron Paul is a Jeffersonian a Constitutionalist. A view that hasn't had a voice in our Government in a long, long time. Typical Republicans and Neo cons don't like RP. We desperately need less Government and the ability to control our own lives. The Government does too much it's destroying it.
Wouldn't it be nice if government was smaller. Indeed, there are areas where government could be less involved. This is where people differ. When we had less gov, we had slavery. Until fed gov stepped in , states rights allowed Jim Crow laws. Deregulation of financial institutions means more whit collar crime, look at Madoff. When the Fairness Doc ended up popped the one sided propagandists, Limbaugh, Fox entertainment news. In some areas less gov means abuse of freedoms.
Slavery and such is a case of too much government. There was no deregulation of the financial sector. When there is, it increases white collar crime by decreasing competition and creating incentives for congress to treat things as "too big to fail."
You have assumed your conclusion in your argument.
Wrong. Abe and the gov had to send the Union army into the south to kick some ass and end slavery and keep the union together. I stick by my comments on white collar crime and the rest. i haven't assumed my conclusion, I've stated it with solid conviction, because it's true.
You assumed the coclusion with great conviction then.
Note your assumption: state governments are not governments; slavery would not have ended without federal government intervention; deregulation occured.
I explained the financial stuff and you didn't really respond, so I take it you don't understand the financial stuff.
Lincoln was an insane dictator who tried to commit genocide on everybody below the Mason Dixon. He was no lover of slaves that was all a ploy to stir up chaos and control that land. Lincoln was the biggest Dictator of the 19th Century.
What you're basically saying is the scope of power should be kept the same and we have to have good people oversee it. The problem is that is impossible. The only sane solution is to limit the amount of power the Federal Government has.
See that argument is bullshit. It's not even worth my time. Either you want to do things or you want a small group thousands of miles away to control everything. You're just a blind sheeple. The changing moral Zeitgeist has made slavery a thing of the past. Fear Mongering for the big dogs that's all your doing. Probably work for the CIA.
Ron Paul is the fear mongerer. Obvoiusly it is worth your time. My eyes are wide open, have been for a long time. As long as Ron Paul doesn't control things i'm fine. Sheeple? Now I work for the CIA? Is that more Ron Paul conspiracy theories?
When Ron Paul talks about health care socialism, he's right. I'm okay with socializing catastrophic expenses associated with cancer or serious illness - but socializing the health care costs of getting a physical or going in for a cough? The lines are going to be out the door and because of that, doctors will start overcharging.
When he talks about foreign policy, he simply believes in a strong national defense. If you hit somebody, they're going to hit you back.
The US pays more for its health care than any other western nation and we have one of the lowest rated systems but we can't afford to change it? WTF?
I like Ron Paul but his faith that good old American corporatism will do the right thing is as naive as Obama reaching out to the GOP for bipartisanship. It just ain't going to happen.
Look more closely. Ron Paul has been saying that this bill IS corporatism. Millions will be forced to give money to the insurance companies. He's been saying all along that medicine was better off without the insurance companies and the government running everything together. Corporatism is exactly what Dr. Paul is fighting against.
@eelzen It needs CHANGE. Ron Paul and everyone else wants to change it, but in the right direction. LESS government enabled insurance corporatism/ regulations instead of more.
@eelzen Did you even listen to the interview? Ron Paul is *against* corporatism, which is the reason our Healthcare is messed up, and the reason this Healthcare Bill is a nightmare. He wants good old American freedom: free market capitalism, no government involvement.
I'm afraid I have to agree. I agree with Dr. Paul that we should stop subsidizing for-profit corporations, but here's the thing - if we deregulate like he wants to, they'll continue to erode the quality of care and amount provided for more and more money, and the American consumer is going to be S.O.L. because the insurance companies are the only game in town, and they own 60% of each house.
Imagine closing unnecessary military bases overseas and using that money here instead.
"Imagine closing unnecessary military bases overseas and using that money here instead." Or instead of "using" it, why not just give it back to us? It's our money not the governments.
All military bases overseas are unnecessary. And I would say the ones in the US are unnecessary as well. If we truly had the right to arm and defend ourselves we'd see local militias much more prevelant and better-armed and there would be really no need for the Federal military monster.
Imagine closing overseas military bases and eliminating all tax breaks, even middle class tax breaks like the home mortgage deduction. Imagine the out cry from those who say they hate socialism if their tax breaks are taken away. Imagine a teabagger claiming his love for constitutional government as he paints a Hitler mustache on his constitutional elected President.
I like Ron Paul but his isn't the messiah...either.
The 9/11 plane hijacker terrorists did not learn to fly in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia or Yemen, they learned to fly in Florida. Maybe we should not be considering an attack on Yemen but attacking Florida! On a serious note, we have millions still coming across our borders at will or overstaying tourist or student visas, we can't even determine who has left the country, yet we want to attack Yemen, we should be removing those in power that have delayed serious immigration reduction.
The attacks on 9/11 and previously, were motivated by the fatwah of Osama bin laden, as a result of remotely attacking from the air, rather than putting troop on ground. Men who fight for a cause prefer man-to-man combat on the ground. However, our cont'd presence provides motivation for a flow of jihadists to answer their holy call to war. Jihadists are recruited from birth, while their minds can be pliable. The USA is in a long and costly battle, but for what cause or end?
I want a coalition formed to declare support for Ron Paul for President, and that he will be backed with a 100% focus in the AIG party. I once had a Jewish coworker, call me "anti-Semite", merely for disagreeing in an argument, that had nothing to do with religion.
Dennis Kucinich is the last genuine Democrat in the congress. I'm old enough to remember when the Democratic party wanted to give all our money to *poor* people.
@nothingspecial24 that is why they both should run together. They might disagree on issues, but they both have honesty, integrity, principles, and fight for all of us instead of the elite and corporations.
If it is anti-semitic to oppose the violent, racist, segregationist policies of the state of Israel, then I am guilty.
However, if a more realistic definition is accepted, such as "prejudice against or hostility towards Jews, often rooted in hatred of their ethnic background, culture, or religion" then count me out.
@helpendthefed Agreed. We seriously need Ron in office. I was so disappointed when I learned he didn't become a final candidate for presidency last year.

At the very least, Ron Paul should be Sec. of State, not fuckin Hilary. What the fuck does Hilary know about foreign policy?? Enough to lie about getting shot at IN KOSOVO. Lol
The Israeli lobby is far too powerful. It needs to be cut down to size. Over my dead body we're going to fight a war in Iran for Israel. Let them fight their own shit. I'm tired of America being the butt-buddy of Israel, always acting like only THEIR interests matter, even if we alienate the rest of our allies. I'm sick of US officials acting like Israel is this weak-ass state! As Mordechai Vununu and others revealed, they have 100s of nukes! they can defend themselves!
"A truly sovereign nation is a nation made up of truly sovereign individuals."
