Wouldn't it be nice if government was smaller. Indeed, there are areas where government could be less involved. This is where people differ. When we had less gov, we had slavery. Until fed gov stepped in , states rights allowed Jim Crow laws. Deregulation of financial institutions means more whit collar crime, look at Madoff. When the Fairness Doc ended up popped the one sided propagandists, Limbaugh, Fox entertainment news. In some areas less gov means abuse of freedoms.

When Ron Paul talks about health care socialism, he's right. I'm okay with socializing catastrophic expenses associated with cancer or serious illness - but socializing the health care costs of getting a physical or going in for a cough? The lines are going to be out the door and because of that, doctors will start overcharging.

When he talks about foreign policy, he simply believes in a strong national defense. If you hit somebody, they're going to hit you back.

I'm afraid I have to agree. I agree with Dr. Paul that we should stop subsidizing for-profit corporations, but here's the thing - if we deregulate like he wants to, they'll continue to erode the quality of care and amount provided for more and more money, and the American consumer is going to be S.O.L. because the insurance companies are the only game in town, and they own 60% of each house.
