  • Some classic sign-ons on "Channel M"

  • I loved WQTV back in the 80s! Their programming was mostly reruns and network shows not carried by the regular affiliates (i.e., soap operas Another World and Search for Tomorrow). Saturday nights at 10 they'd show Elvira's Movie Macabre and I'd always tune in! I miss WQTV.

  • Do you have any more of these WQTV clips?

  • I've since added more.

  • I miss the Old Channel 67.

  • The announcer sounds like Dale Dorman, a veteran radio personality in Boston. Am I right?

  • No. I don't know who it is, but it's not Dorman.

  • The announcer was Bill Smith, who was also an announcer at Channel 7 during their CBS days (as WNEV).

  • @SellawEvets And Mr. Smith used to Work at Channels 2 and 44 (WGBH and WGBX) as you can hear him in the 1992 WGBH sign-off

  • There's no way it could have been Dorman since he was "Uncle Dale" on WLVI during those years. It DOES sound like him, though.

  • Yes, similar-sounding voice. Dorman can be heard on my : "2 - Twilight Zone Spectacular - WSBK - (2 of 7)" clip on 'Tech-Hifi Entertainment Show'. In ref. to Dale on WLVI, see my 'Reading Is Fundamental' clip. He often spoke over those WLVI Kid's Parade graphics at breaks.

Anyone remember him from WRKO radio? I do; early-mid 70's... '68-RKO'

  • pax switched to ION last year

  • Wish someone would post some WQTV old clips from the Starcase or Star TV days. Would love a clip of Diane Francis, the Starcase hostess.

  • VaultMasterDBT has A starcase ident on his channel!

  • hey...thanks buddy...that brings back great memories of growing up in Boston. I had both Starcase and later Preview. Thanks for alerting me to this.

  • Your Welcome.I had Preview also, but ours came out of Cleveland.

  • At this time WQTV Channel 68 in Boston, Massachusetts begins broadcasting in the encoded or "scrambled" mode. You now need to be a subscriber to "StarCase", and have a decoder attached to your television set.
