Fine play, but they blew the casting when they filmed it. The only thing more wrong than Hepburn in the role of Agnes is the deadly dull Paul Scofield as Tobias. Kim Stanley was going to play the role of Claire but Hepburn had Stanley fired. Wonder why?

I heard that Hepburn found Stanley unprofessional and was impatient with her for not knowing her lines, etc. I do understand your casting objections, but I don't think Hepburn was miscast, just misdirected.

Actually, Stanley didn't get a chance to act unprofessional (something no one who ever worked with her ever said about her) because Hepburn had her replaced before they could start filming. Hepburn tended to alter versions of what happened in her past as the people involved died.

I think Scofield is fine in the play.

Unclean you dont have true facts. Stanley die in 2001 and Hepburn in 2003. She was not in public view anymore since she was very ill. How could she had talk about stanley who die 2 years before her? Your comment are bullshit.

Well, it is a lot easier to talk about someone who died two years before you than it is someone who died two years after you die. Anyway, Edward Albee didn't like Hepburn's interpretation of Agnes.

I could not care less for some biographer who tend to invent scandal to sell their books. I prefer to ear what actors and actress who had work with her say. Hopkings, O Toole, and many more who are still alive have great respect and learn a lot from her. And Hepburn was direct. She always tells what she thinks to anybody. So again do your homework boy.

If you're going to write in English, you need to know grammar syntax, otherwise you come off as risible and ignorant. I mean, I wouldn't live in a country unless I could fluently speak the native language correctly. It would be offensive to the natives.

I think that the actress who played Claire was magnificent. She and Remick (who played Julia) were my favorites.

Strangely enough, however, I was not at all impressed with Hepburn's performance. I had a hard time understanding her, and I feel that Agnes should have been played by someone just a BIT younger.

Paul Scofield's performance was pretty good. He showed how emotionally detached Tobias is. But in some parts, I had trouble believing him.

Well, is not a marvellous film, because is not a "usual movie" is a play; but all of the actors make a superb performance, all of them are wonderful, and the play is another masterwork of Albee. Powerful, yes, I think that "powerful" is the word for A Delicate Balance.
