i like thomas lang, but meinl cymbals are kinda crappy compared to the other companies top of the lines. I think meinl pays him good money to promote these.

You obviously haven't had much experience with meinl. thought i don't like these hats much, meinl does make a lot of cymbals of the same or better quality than the big 3.

And thomas lang chose meinl , meinl didn't choose thomas. He designed these hats for his playing style. there is no bribing involved.

There's really no such thing as "better" cymbals because it's all personal preference. IMO Meinl is one of the best cymbal makers around because they work well for my needs.

@therealhardrivedave You ever played Meinl? As Ramen1020 said, these big-name artists CHOOSE to play Meinl. They could be endorsed with any cymbal company they want, and if not they have the money to play any they want. And there is no "best" cymbal. There are a lot of great cymbal companies and lines out there, Meinl just happen to be my favourite for my needs. Lovely cymbals.

I really want to know, because i am still on that search for the perfect cymbals for me, and I tend to play very jazzy, rockish sorta groove mix in my playing. Im interested to know and i am for sure gonna look more into meinl.

@therealhardrivedave They just really suit what sounds I want as a drummer. I'm a metal guy mainly, my Mb20 crashes are really loud and cutting when they need to be, but they are still versatile for stuff like blues and rock. You can even ride the 20" crash for a nice jazz ride! I just ordered Byzance Traditional hats, they're gritty and cutting enough for hardcore/metal, but versatile enough to fit in virtually any genre. Just gotta try Meinl for yourself and see how they sound to you!

@Supersnathan The only problem with buying hand-hammered cymbals online is that sounds can vary wildly. This gives you a great idea of the sound, but I can tell you right now that my Byzances and Mb20s do sound different to what I've heard online, even ones of the same model. Hell, in a shop I played one of my crashes next to an identical model and they sounded pretty different.
