This place goes out of its way to favor certain students when they smell money...all to get them to be "school owners" or "investors" and promptly get all of their money. This is the real nature of this school. That and the cult-like behaviors are just appalling. It's true insanity to believe the claims this school puts out. It was only a few years ago they were claiming that you will be able to perform "miracles" should you attend their seminars. LOL
Seriously, do you really think this cult will reveal it's identity in a few years? Naah.. They NEED you to believe in floating stories as long as possible to collect their cash.
The other ironic thing is your higher belt may not be part of the inner circle. He's just been used to invest in the schools as the cash collection depot for the cult. The longer the belt doesn't figure out the bigger picture of derailed lives, the more cash for the cult. In the 80's it was Renaisance and the printing co, now it's Jadience. Read Vivien F's account. This cult may not be conning folks for "centuries", but they sure have been conning for decades.
Wakee upeee oh believers of the 11 story float. This cult is a con. They seek employees who have an ability to make quick "friends". Once the unsuspecting person walks in..The bonding begins. After that.. it is difficult, even impossible to say anything bad about this cult because you have invested and believe the best possible about your "higher belt friend". The ironic thing about it is....The higher belt is in the same predicament as the guy who just walked in. The cult banks on this.
In lieu of gym or any other material arts school I prefer to join OYD, its totally different from other schools I really felt awesome experience with it.
I really found drastic change in my physic after doing OYD movements, OYD masters teach the movements in a very simple way any1 can easily catch their movements.
I really appreciate their work they done fabulous job, 1 month ago I have a problem with my posture but through movements of OYD I really feel better than before.
Good to see traditional moo doe getting positive attention in the news. Though it is often difficult to tell when watching each of these movements develops the overall strength and flexibility in the body in a very complete way. To get the same benefit someone would actually have to spend many hours at the gym, but they are complex and require a qualified instructor to learn them. I recommend that anyone who is curious stop by a school and try them to see for themselves.
This movements looks pretty simple, but when done properly this types of movements show methods for opening meridians. This is key principles for allowing chi flow through body properly. Much different from common combat martial arts. Actually building up of strengths at deeper level. Most common martial arts do no understands this types of movements. All have much works to do. Man in front is obviously more advancing than other ones. Patience in the developing art makes true martial artist.
These students think they're using herbs but bags are filled with beans. Kim made all these Par Gey techniques as he went along. Some of these techniques will hurt your joins faster than they would heal them. Kim himself, fake messiah and seld created champion, had back problems. I can't believe after all the news and arrests, these guys still sell folks on these lies. Just read 'Herding The Moo.'
Wow! I took lessons for around 6 months. They want money, money, money. I signed up for the introductory $100.00 a month plan and then got the bait and switch treatment. Tried to push the International plan on me for a mere $300.00 a month. No thanks!
The same thing happened to me. They tested me for promotion within a month and charged me a bunch for that and then they wanted to triple my cost per month, supposedly because I was a promising student. I decided to quit and then I dealt with phone harrassment for a long time after. They might not be doing that now, but with Kim still in charge it is still crooked.
I agree with the negative and with with the positive comments about Oom Yung Doe. There is no doubt that it was once purely a cult, but I know people who have had good experiences with the martial arts and paid no more than 80$ a month to attend classes. What it comes down to is that surely there are still false instructors who are only teaching to scam others out of their money, but there are legitimate schools as well.
Also, I'm not really sure if these men are good examples of what Oom Yung Doe is really about. I have been much more impressed by other examples of the martial arts.
Thank you, finally someone looks at reason. I have been going to the school and I admit that previously they had been a cult like school. Now, they are not, at least not all of them. My school is not like anything that people have been saying. I pay 180 per month for 7 lessons a week and unlimited practice time. Though I only attend three of the total seven it is worth the money and not a scam. My instructor does not intimidate me to stay, and ALWAYS treats ALL the students with respect.
There is only 1 Oom Yung Doe/Chung Moo Quan. Taught by the felon John C Kim, who was NEVER a champion in 'asia' (ask for specifics, watch them mumble) - he was a beigining student in Sip Pal Ke and made up the rest. The ENTIRE system is a joke - a made up hodge podge of garbage used to extract money from the ignorant public. The 'teachers' of this art have made a career of knowing very little and pretending they have the 'secret.'
The Moo is a fraudulent group of fakes and cowards.
Just listen how they talk - just mumbo jumbo - no specifics - just babble 'developing more internally versus externally' - what horsehockey! These guys are frauds - stay away from them.
umm, i only payed 675 dollars for 6 months, five days a week. pretty intense movements and develops flexible muscles and good balance. i don't see much wrong with that. and you don't have to believe the crap they tell you about 'masters' and their 'accomplishments'. just go in there and do your thing and get out and it's good for your body.
But you are uneducated. You could get better results joining a gym for $20 a month - and avoid the long term ill-effects AND the useless 'self-defense.' I've been around these tools for over 20 years - and when I was a green belt in Judo I used to toss around these 'champions' easily - because the training they give teaches you to lose.
i don't do it for self-defense. i already know how to throw fists. what i do it for is the intense movements that require balance and flexibile muscles. haha you were in a martial arts with colored belts, that's for children, seems like you're the uneducated one if you were with those 'tools' for over 20 years. i'm only doing it for 6 months for only 675, good deal. peace
Judging by the assumptions and 'observations' in your post - not to mention the style and cadence of your writing - you are one of the tools who regularly post to defend this obnoxious cult that sells useless crap.
And no - I never Mooed. Never fell for any of their lies. Thought they were really funny though. And fun to knock around.
It's not a martial art. It's not good for your health. But apparently it is good to separate a fool from his $675...or more.
Despite clearly pointing out I never Mooed- 'loopguru' insists I'm part of the moo.
The Moo talk at you, but they never listen. Sad, deluded and pathetic, they lie, cheat and steal in order to feel important and special - yet to the world they are a joke.
Where have I ever said that you were in Oom Yung Doe? Your analyzing skills are completely bunk, which explains why you think i'm in a cult only after two weeks of joining Oom Yung Doe. I don't believe the crap they tell me about 'masters', I just do it because they push me to exercise good movements. Keep complaing mr. greenbelt, I'll never see you outside of the computer screen so I'm not taking you seriously. bye
What is a green belt? You got me there. Never heard of it.
It is amazing to me how you moo-ers live a world all you own, you talk and talk, but really see nothing but your own delusions and gas. Wasting your life defending a lie, yet your defense is just name-calling and lies.
it's like dealing with little kids with learning disorders.
"I've been around these tools for over 20 years - and when I was a green belt in Judo I used to toss around these 'champions' easily."
That was what you said on your other youtube account that you probably made because so many people spam you for the stupid shit you say. If you're really tired of Oom Yung scams, then go protest or some shit rather than bitching about it on youtube with random people. You're done.
I see you are swearing now, typical last resort if the incompetent.
Of course we are tired of OYD and it's lies and crappy martial art - not even good for a workout. Which is why we stand against it.
A friend of mine challenged the OYD 'masters' to prove their claims - and they hid like little girls. Actually, little girls are braver than OYD 'masters.'
Don't you have anything better to do than make yourself look stupid on the internet?
I attended Oom Yung Doe for about 9 months a couple years back. I found that if you weren't willing to pay ~$10,000 up front you were treated like a second-class student; they only care about the students who are willing to pay exorbitant amounts of money. Look at the website or go into the school and you'll see they don't post fees in a public place like any other school in the area does. Look at the website and you'll note that they 'other' people who are negative, ie: Pa Doe Co$ anyone? Cult.
This may be true, but not all the schools are crooked. No one pressures anyone to drop other priorities and devote themselves to the school. In fact, my instructor always asks me how my grades are keeping up in college and advises me to focus more on the school work and use the dicipline to focus better. Also, no one is treated like a second class student regardless if they take the 2-month the 6-month or the 2-year program. Everyone is equal and everyone is respected.
The final part of this statement is unequivocally untrue. They go out of their way to make sure you feel guilty about it, and as though you're missing out on something, if you don't pay the insane amounts of money they want. There are better schools and better people to learn martial arts from. A simple google uncovers a wealth of controversy about this school that others are not subject to.
Absolutely untrue, as a former instructor we were expressly taught to make differences between students in order to put peer pressure on others to go up in course. One instructor put it this way:that we ought to "put a fence around the water" so that students will feel neglected and thus want (in OYD's twisted logic) to go up in course. As for your first statement, there was also constant pressure to become a full time inst. Personally I was often told "you're not giving enough (time)".
wow..great structure great pwer generation...they all seem so grounded and able to umm, who the fuck am I kidding these jerk offs would get hurt bowing in at my school..
Please do not beleive these negative people. try Oom yung doe for yourself. Its amazing and has truly changed my life in many ways. I have a stronger body and a more calm mind. It has many benifits and I recomend it to anyone who wants to be a better person.
Its funny that you are all such negative people. Really if you do not like or agree with oom yung doe then that is fine but what are you gaining by talking shit about something you know nothing about? Oom yung doe has helped many people change their body for the better and to create a more clear mind. I am sorry that you didnt gain from it but dont you ever just stop and look at yourself? Hmmm. perhaps it is you who is just too weak to go through.
This is ridiculous. They are supposedly doing the same form, and yet they all have different movements. The first degree looks like he is going to fall down at points, the sixth section has the stupid herbs and elaborate movements the others don't have. Was this supposed to demonstrate something good for them?
