'Editing what is from the past is hugely frustrating to me. Whether it is 'Fantasia', 'Huckleberry Finn' or anything else, it is wrong. Nothing from the past needs to be editied--that's the way it is,. Not all kids are going to pick up on the racist themes in the film, and parents can explain if their kids have questions. i do not understand how there are people who do not find this racist. sunflower was drawn in a very stereotypical style, while centaurs with the god Bacchus were not. the artists could have drawn her non overexerted as they have with the zebra centaurs. her appearance is the most notable problem, second main being the fact that she is treated as if she doesn't exist by the white centaurs. plus, Walt denies the creation of this character and does not apologize to the offended public.

I always enjoyed the Pastoral Symphony segment in it's edited form and I did enjoy it that way on vhs recently! 'Editing what is from the past is hugely frustrating to me. Whether it is 'Fantasia', 'Huckleberry Finn' or anything else, it is wrong. Nothing from the past needs to be editied--that's the way it is,. Not all kids are going to pick up on the racist themes in the film, and parents can explain if their kids have questions. It is an insult to show these types of cartoons to anyone from that generation who fought for their rights to overcome these stereotypes. They were banned for a reason. It is because of them that many people, including you, now have the liberty to pursue their happiness.If you had respect for what the older generation did you wouldnt glorify these uncut scenes so much.

If we all just turned the other way we would never take notice of how oppression often turns into even more devastating results. In the 50's, the U.S. intervened in Guatemala which eventually caused civil war and eventually a genocide of Mayan natives in later decades.

Slavery in the U.S. also caused ongoing civil war in Liberia for over 100 years. i do not understand how there are people who do not find this racist. sunflower was drawn in a very stereotypical style, while centaurs with the god Bacchus were not. the artists could have drawn her non overexerted as they have with the zebra centaurs. her appearance is the most notable problem, second main being the fact that she is treated as if she doesn't exist by the white centaurs. plus, Walt denies the creation of this character and does not apologize to the offended public.

Anyone who has watched the Little Rascals, with Fereena and Buckwheat, on tv should not be so shocked to see a many pigtailed black poor girl centaur servent! The image of black kids shinning the shoes of the whites and being domestic servents for them would be common place in the 1940's. I always enjoyed the Pastoral Symphony segment in it's edited form and I did enjoy it that way on vhs recently! While it was fine for this to be cut out it was still interesting to see this unseen footage!
