I played guitar in a blues band in 1960 this was the song we closed the show with I had a kazzoo and harmonica round my neck. I met Jack in the same year. He was on a bill with Derrol Adams and the Reverend Gary Davies
First time I ever heard this song it was sung by Patrick Sky -every version since has been better (!). My favourite version is by Eric Clapton, though this is good - who used the kazoo first, I wonder
I believe Jesse Fuller, the originator of this song, played the kazoo on his original version back in the Fifties & early Sixties. Peter, Paul & Mary followed suit, as did Clapton. This song was sort of made for the kazoo, don'tcha think?
