Gonna go as Alice Cooper this halloween, need to make replica "trash" jacket since they dont have any online, and this vid'll help me alot once I start working on it! :D
I just woke up an caught a glimpse of the 2 unused leather jackets in my closet and adding studs to make them more appealing donned on me. This video was very helpful.
Definitely saving this video. I've got a faux leather jacket that I'm going to start putting some patches on and I want to stud along the top of the shoulders.
my biggest problem is... where do i buy a metal dart from ? lol
could you take a look at this and give me some pointers? I LOVE the studs on this jacket, but unlike the ppl who can afford burberry I like to not be homeless than have a jacket. here's the picture, it's got killer studs
Hey, I've got a question.. I've got like this old studded belt, I removed the studds and I was thinking of placing them in my jacket.. Do you think that the posts will still be strong enough?.. (Yes I'm really careful but I don't want to screw my jacket up :P)
there only cows. im from wisconsin we have bijilions of them learking about the random feilds. they also make faux leather just so you know so there may be a smidgin of a chance i have a faux leather jacket (i dont but just sayin)
just let people be the way they are and you stay the way you are, beleive what you beleive and let me do the same. dont be one of thoes fags trying to do stuff just because you want them to. just let people be who they are
i never told you to do anything. i just gave out opinions in trying to educate.
but yes i would like it if you stoped buying real animal products because basically they de-furred the animal or killed the animal so you can look good.
you know what would happen if no one or nothing killed other living things? there would be a massive population exploition and every living thing would die or starvation and dehydration. not to mention mal-nutrition for omnivores(including us, humans) and carnivores
u want 2 support the murder of living beings dat hav da same mind of a human 2 year old,dey sho signs of empathy and affection along wit able 2 think for dem selvs and cuz of dis fear deth. farms kill these animals and u eat dem, but u already grew up N' adapted to eating meat and u prbly don't see wat wrong with it because of what you have been taught yor whole life these habits and so what i am saying is against the norm/ u naturally are going to argue against it since its u believe in dis.
I natuarally crave meat......So I eat it, pretty simple my friend.
And I have nothing against ending things so other things can go on, this includes killing other living beings so that I can survive, but Im not a wasteful killer, nor one who kills in vein....
one other thing: I DO NOT support most of the food industry, like the big companies i like to stay clear from or the ones who abuse or mistreat thier animal or waste most of the carcus
when you are killing a being it makes no difference.
you don't need meat to survive that is a myth and either way you should not be talking about survival on the internet...because when would there be internet in a survival situation
when you buy dairy always go for local brand where they don't continually milk the cow in a cramped cage.
the internet is a luxury I have at the moment, I do not NEED it, and you are half right about not needing meat to survive, You need the nutrience inside the meat and it is more filling than veggitation, to this day I have yet to see a healthy veggitarian that dosnt take suplaments for thier poor diet...
@blobperson you've obviously never met a real vegetarian, or a vegan, because we are much healthier than those who eat meat and those of us who take care of ourselves properly know exactly what nutrients we need. I would suggest that you do more research, but based on your spelling and grammatical errors, I think that reading would be a challenging task for you.
@ihearthowardmoon Oh yeah, I forgot you were with me my entire life, my bad. and no thats a stupid ass statement, vegetarians and vegans are not healthier, you said yourself "know exactly what nutrients we need"= supplementing(if you dont eat meat, and/or animal products). and sorry about the wrong spelling on one word, what are you a fuckin english teacher?
you can sodder them together . They never fall out and it sholds better .PLus its easy to get off just use pliers and press really hard and you will break it and get t off hope that helped .
Yeah but when you have like 1000 studs to put in, i ain't up for soldering all them... So i'll just do this. It's obvious if you solder them your going to burn yourself sooner or later lol.
I didnt push it all the way through the leather, I put mine in between the two layers of leather it looks cleaner lol but then again i have to do that. I need to get more studs though ive only got a few on my jacket and buttons but i got spikes and pyramids on the straps at the shoulders. I love DIY projects like this it gives me a smile
Where can i find a leather puncher or whatever... and what if i use a thin tip knife....? wouldn't it make more sense cause the studs are like a triangle for the clips and the knife end has like a triangle shape to it..
first off, thanks for such a straight forward and informative video. Secondly, where exactly did you get your jacket shown in this video? I have two friends with leather jackets which are identical to eachother and seemingly to the one you have. also, what is the brand/model/whatever? Any help will be great.
Hey, i started to stud my jacket, and a bunch of the studs fell out. I know i can just put them back in, but is there a better way to put them in to begin with?
BTW: i just put the studs right in, i dont use something to punch the hole.
i have a black jean vest, and i have alot but i know its not good but,..i... used my teeth to pin them. ONLY when my fingers couldnt, but hey, i have it exactly like how lars frederiksen has his vest when hes in the indestructible album and cheetah collar =]
Turn them inside out, but not all the way because you'll have to keep going back and forth. If it's a leather jacket with a liner, cut the liner and then sew it back up when you're done.
@EverydayHardcore Is there nothing that will allow you to set the prongs without turning the sleeves inside out?Something you could put inside the jacket and under the stud after you made the holes so you can tap with a mallet and and the prongs will bend in??
you can't "sell out" a subculture by sharing basic information with people that are interested. Way to help kill your subculture by staying an elitist asshole. Get over yourself, you whiny little bitch. If you don't like it, don't watch it. How else can I simplify that for you?
@EverydayHardcore you can just call him a "COCK SUCKING SHIT MUNCHING RETARDED ASS FUCK WITH NO IDEA TO WHAT HES SAYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! see less to type or you can just be like henry rolins in that one interview were he starts interviewing his interviewer??? i.e. he calls you a sell out you go with it and say yes I have sold out dont watch me dont like me or my show just let me be a stupid sell out. or some shit like that.( I dont think you a sell out and I dont care what ppl think of me)
You're a douchebag elitist fuckhead. Not everyone can figure these things out easily, and what, punk fashion is some sort of privileged right only a few people get? Fuck you, cunt. Stop calling yourself a punk and die.
nails usually aren't sharp enough i imagine a dart would work well but I've always used a leather punch it doesn't stretch out the leather any more than a dart does.
ive been planing to diy a leather jacket 4 a while and now that winters approaching theres no better time to do it and when i asked one of my friends how to do it he said this video was the best place to learn, thanks guys u kick so much ass, im almost the only punk where i live so i have to self teach my self some things ur a big help.
Burlington Coat Factory, any western store (most I've been in have decent looking punk/biker style leather jackets), Army Surplus stores, or if your desperate, try a thrift store
The only red part on Adam's jacket are the details that he painted (the edges of the zippers, pockets and epilets).
Lining a jacket is extremely tricky, because it's leather, which is hard as fuck to sew through, and lining a jacket properly requires lots of skill with a needle, careful measuring, and a willingness to re-do your work a million times. I don't suggest it, as I've never succesfully lined ANYTHING. Not even an a-line skirt.
I'm doing my own vest and leather jacket right now and it's coming along beautifully, but GOD does it take a long time. And my hands are a wasteland of pain.
Oh, I've also discovered that a good sharp X-acto knife is a great tool for studding leather. Just make the indentations and push the blade thru. No stretching a hole for the posts necessary.
si i ask this again, do u have a vid on adding spikes to the shoulders/epilettes, cuz i wanna know how to do that, and if u dont could u make 1 plz? thx,
What type of studs would you recommend for a denim vest? British punk or conical, and what size? What tools/techniques are the best for studding denim clothes? I'm going for a crust look.
The best part of denim is you just need a pair of pliers. I like 1/2 inch conicals for the majority, and I like to add trim using TALL 77's of 7/16" or 1/2"
The best way is to drill or puncture holes JUST smaller than the diameter of the screw post. Under the fabric or leather put a strip of leather (for fabric) or a small metal washer (for either) under each spike for stability.
i'm only a 12 yr old girl but i have done that with my leather jacket but it took me forever!!!!!! But it looks AWESOME!!!! ur way is easier than mine
Damn I studded a denim vest and it definatly didnt take this much work, Im glad I didnt use leather. I did it with 1/2 inch pyramid studs. To stud about 250 studs It took me six hours, but I get compliments from people all the time about how nice it looks.
are those the english 77 1/2" studs from studs and spikes dot com? i dont want to buy 1000 to find out there not the right ones and i want the ones u have on the collar and also where did u get your jacket?
They're standard 1/2" conical studs. look in "bulk and discount" section.
I use 77's, tall and stqandard, but on some of my vests. talls are really great for edges because they stand out. 77 standard are a LITTLE taller and a LITTLE skinnier than 1/2 inch standard.
are those the english 77 1/2" studs from studs and spikes dot com? i dont want to buy 1000 to find out there not the right ones and i want the ones u have on the collar and also where did u get your jacket?
hi adam i want to put spikes and studs but i just dont know how to do. I know there is a lot of ways to do that but i cant find informations in french so can you descripe every stage because i can read english but not listen very well
i have the same denim vest that you do i was wondering how many studs it would take to cover the entire back execpt for the spot where the back patch is?
Very informative - thanks. I have a question, though - say I want to do studs along the sleeve how would I go about fixing them in place? Do you just reach up into the sleeve with pliers?
I've used both. I haven't found one that works better, they're about the same. Bending them into a loop keeps them from being pokey, though, which is nice if it's a garment that will be rubbing against your skin.
the loop wurks better for me if you bend it far enough in that the prongs push the leather into the inside of the spike if that makes any sense. it helps keep ithe spike in better. if you just fold the prongs flat and the leather filds where the stud is the prong might slip out of the jacket. i had this problem alot mostly at shows..
Gonna go as Alice Cooper this halloween, need to make replica "trash" jacket since they dont have any online, and this vid'll help me alot once I start working on it! :D

that is natural when population reaches a high rate.
bacteria and viruses are easier to spread and etc.
does that give the right to kill Chinese(in which china has done in the past for population control)

i love the jacket man, im trying to stud mine but i can decide between british77 cones or the standard cones that you use
punx4life1589 3 years ago
Ow ow ow ow GODDAMNIT ow.
No stretching a hole for the posts necessary.
...that sounded really dirty. Fuck yeah.

si i ask this again, do u have a vid on adding spikes to the shoulders/epilettes, cuz i wanna know how to do that, and if u dont could u make 1 plz? thx,

What type of studs would you recommend for a denim vest? British punk or conical, and what size? What tools/techniques are the best for studding denim clothes? I'm going for a crust look.
Ub3rlyAwesome 3 years ago
The best part of denim is you just need a pair of pliers. I like 1/2 inch conicals for the majority, and I like to add trim using TALL 77's of 7/16" or 1/2"

Thanks! Could you please message me the link for the silver conical studs that you use? Thanks a million! Punx Alive!!

The best way is to drill or puncture holes JUST smaller than the diameter of the screw post. Under the fabric or leather put a strip of leather (for fabric) or a small metal washer (for either) under each spike for stability.

I'm trying to add studs to my new hoodie. Will they come off in teh wash? I just added them to around the zipper and near the collar.
jess1541 3 years ago
Not if they're really on there. In high-usage areas you'll see more loss, but turn your hoodie inside out in the wash.

Damn I studded a denim vest and it definatly didnt take this much work, Im glad I didnt use leather. I did it with 1/2 inch pyramid studs. To stud about 250 studs It took me six hours, but I get compliments from people all the time about how nice it looks.

are those the english 77 1/2" studs from studs and spikes dot com? i dont want to buy 1000 to find out there not the right ones and i want the ones u have on the collar and also where did u get your jacket?
bombdrop17 4 years ago
They're standard 1/2" conical studs. look in "bulk and discount" section.
I use 77's, tall and stqandard, but on some of my vests. talls are really great for edges because they stand out. 77 standard are a LITTLE taller and a LITTLE skinnier than 1/2 inch standard.

1)You need the following tools:
-A steel tipped dart
-a pair of pliers
-Studs (personal preference)
2) Take your stud, which should have 2 prongs on it, and press the prongs hard into the leather. It should leave an mark in the leather.
3) Using the marks as a guide, take the dart and poke holes into the leather. Roll the dart to help make the holes big enough for the leather
4) Take your stud and push the prongs through the holes you made
40ozRob 4 years ago
5) Take your pliers and pull the prongs into the leather.
Use the video as a guide and I hope this helps.

Very informative - thanks. I have a question, though - say I want to do studs along the sleeve how would I go about fixing them in place? Do you just reach up into the sleeve with pliers?
TheMightyMcClaw 4 years ago
Pretty much. Fold the sleeve inside out as you go.

Hey wich method is better to use?
Bending the prongs into a loop?
Or bending them towards each other like in your video?
girl118 4 years ago
I've used both. I haven't found one that works better, they're about the same. Bending them into a loop keeps them from being pokey, though, which is nice if it's a garment that will be rubbing against your skin.
Best of luck.

the loop wurks better for me if you bend it far enough in that the prongs push the leather into the inside of the spike if that makes any sense. it helps keep ithe spike in better. if you just fold the prongs flat and the leather filds where the stud is the prong might slip out of the jacket. i had this problem alot mostly at shows..
