  • Rest in Peace, Paul Motian.

  • How could anyone - anyone! - with an ounce of soul dislike this tune, and especially this performance?

  • Billfreaks, you are invited to a beautiful Bill Evans master class on YT! The class includes an in-depth analysis of Bill's classic solo performance "A Time for Love". You will LOVE this, promise:) Type in "Dave Frank" Bill Evans on YT.

  • ...sweet..poignant

  • Scot Lafaro and bill evans were, are, and probably always will be, the greatest bass - piano combination ever. This song is made even more poignant by the fact that scott died in a car crash shortly after it was made. This song will be played at my funeral.

  • Bill!!

  • why is the lead sheet in F?

  • @utubuser10

F is the original key of the song.

In this Evans marvelous cover it's in A. I thing for it sounds better with "open low notes" on bass.

  • @GozTheGreat thanks, but the real answer is, the lead sheet is for the title track, 'waltz for debby,' and not, 'foolish heart.' i wasn't paying attention...

  • @utubuser10

    Exact.

You can find the lead sheet in the "old real book" (p. 307).

    It's in Bb.

  • I found myself in Copenhagen a few years ago with this playing over and over but tonight I am in my garage in Central Texas on a cold winter night enjoying the same vibes. This is really special stuff by Bill.

  • GREAT VERSION.IS AS GOOD A VERSION WITH LARRY BUNKER & CHUCK ISREALS FROM THE BBC TV JAZZ 625 FROM THE 1965 SERIES.TOP DRAW.

  • @spadge1able

Bill recorded many versions of this song, but none tops this . None could.

  • God is here.

  • good.

  • Oh yeah

  • Always a joyous experience listening to this. My Foolish Heart was the third tune of the Bill Evans Trio's first afternoon set at the Village Vanguard in New York that Sunday June 25th 1961. The trio played five sets altogether that Sunday. Interestingly, ironically, the first set opened with LaFaro's 'Gloria's Step' and the last set closed with his 'Jade Visions'.

  • bill evans at is best for me, incredible as always , maybe more

  • A few years ago I spent several weeks in the middle of the winter in Copenhagen. Many of those days I spent sitting in my window staring at the snow with a pot of coffee, some fine Christiania smoke, and an I-pod player with this song playing over and over. About as peaceful surroundings as I have ever had.

  • 2:49... WHAT the hell is that?! haha

  • INSANITY!!! That's what!!!

  • Im trying to download this version online, but i just can get the starbucks piano collection one..... do you know where i can download it? thanks.

  • I agree - this is the B-E-S-T version!

  • This song it's the same 'Bill Evans mornings' for me.

  • Ear tingling music touchs my heart.

  • I knew this song since I was in college, and I think this is the version i heard. This song is with me no matter I'm down or up. I can listen to it over and over again. and yes to tsnrhm, it is to me Bill's unofficial theme song.

  • I have to agree, this is the best version. It sounds fresh, sensitive and captures the brooding spirit Evans was known for. He doesn't over-embellish the ending as he did in later versions. This became his unofficial theme song and he probably just played it too many times to maintain that sensitivity.

    Thanks for a great post.

  • Close your eyes briefly but without rush, wrap yourself with the finest silk, caress the most luxurious velvet, drink the finest Bordeaux and kiss your first love on the cheek, feel it, it is the most elegant expression of love turned to music.

  • @kojak1969 dont forget to take the hot pocket out of the microwave

  • @kojak1969 For me, the best song to play while i kiss my girlfriend is asking alexandria closure!!! :)

  • @kojak1969 then fuck her with your cock

  • @RubyProduction I won't be with yours, that's for sure.

  • @kojak1969 Beautifully said:)

  • @kojak1969 THAT IS SO BENT!

  • I never post comments at YouTube. I will for this gem..wow. As a pianist, if I could ever approach that level of sensitivity in my lifetime, I would die a happy man.

  • AS a musician myself, I am moved to reflect on the joys of my life as these notes take me to those places and times , albeit momentarily.

  • Marvelous! I'm addicted to it.

I have no waord =same as NYCBG.

  • Agree! This is the best one. Thank you for uploadin'.

  • OMG! Bill Evans...what depth, what passion...musicianship... ingenius chord substitutions... and then somebody says, "Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli is beautiful music". Sweet Jesus!

  • too bad defaro left us 10 days aftre this recording

  • time is suspended whenever i hear Bill and Scotty and Paul play My Foolish Heart.

  • Que bueno el tema, me encanta, lo saque para guitarra.
