I am into flutemaking too, but not have so much experience.. there a few questions that I would like to ask u.. I hope u could have any time for me.. thank u in advance..
Interesting video, thanks for posting it. you guys might find this blog interesting, it has information about all kinds of bamboo news, from products like laptops phones, to interior design to architecture, material analysis, etc.
He said that some of the worst playing flutes have nodes... Well, that may be true in transverse flutes, but certainly not ALL flutes. Many of the most brilliant styles of flutes in the world have nodes. The Egyptian and Turkish Ney all have nodes, as they are made from river cane. The Chinese Xiao and Japanese Shakuhachi have nodes. They can be extremely powerful instruments with FAR more capabilities than a bamboo side-blown. That being said, this guy should really be more specific.
@skooterkid I disagree with the your point that xiao and shakuhachi are more capable instruments than side blown bamboo flutes...i personally believe that the chinese dizi and the indian bansuri are the most versatile and capable flutes...however i do feel that if a flute has nodes, it doesnt mean its a bad flute
I think the dizi is very one-dimensional. Yes, you can change up the volume, but it has just one basic sound. Tricky finger movements are about all that can make a dizi sound super versatile. That would be the player, not so much the flute.
I agree about the bansuri, though...man, what a flute!
The xiao...i may take that one back. But, the shakuhachi does have far greater versatility than a transverse. It's just the science of the thing, pal.
@bananaorange90 sorry for posting again but also Ancient Koudi and Eagle Bone Flutes are really intressting (((( thumbs up this if u think so also))))

I have lots of bamboo that would make great flutes. at the library they had a book from the UK on how to make a bamboo flute.. more like a recorder, and don't have any more. I would like more info on how to make the lower ranges. Thanks for the vid an Jigs...
hmm I was wondering how much would it cost for me to get a c bamboo flute for them you said htaty ou sale them ... also do they follow the same fingering chart as the c key john Boehm model ??? Or is it different.
I bought one of your flutes in the fall of last year!! I love it!! I posted a simple video of it as I'm still learning. But I love the flute you made me, it's lovely. :) Lovely range and tone, and a lot of fun to play. Thank you!! It's cool to see and hear the maker of my flute. :)
