  • The Premium Filter is the Fram Xtended guard filter. Its a gold can, a Fram in name only. Wrapped in plastic goes by numbers XG**** The extra guard your using is not a premium filter, its an avg orange can. Any claims of failures are bogus, BITOG makes no such claims. Only Internet rumors and back yard mechanics. Whats funny is there was no startup tick, but the engine was louder in general on the wix. Sounds like a seafoamed engine to me, ticking on that 1930's pale oil.

  • @sbond1963 Not sure which video you were watching but if you can't hear the ticking with the Fram on the car...not rumors, but real life experiences..my Volvo would leak down and tick with Fram filters just like the Miata is doing in this video. Not asking anyone to agree with me ..just showing my observations

  • @fupabox leak down from where? They are both vertical filters right? anti drainback valves are for the filter not the engine. Because the filters are vertical you dont even need an adbv. The oil cant leave a vertical filter its impossible. If you need oil to the very top of the channels not to tick on 2 different cars maybe you should reconsider your oil choices, and stop with the seafoam. The fact you instantly blame Fram proves your trusting the wrong people on the internet.

  • @sbond1963 The Miata filter is horizontal not vertical...I have been rebuilding cars for 30 years....I'm not some 17 year old cutting open a filter with a hacksaw trying to make a sensationalized video..and I am not running with seafoam in the engine....antidrainback also keeps oil passages filled post filter.. not just the filter...

  • I've got a 92' miata like yours with 215000 miles on an original engine and i've always used FRAM filters and walmart oil. Never had an issue.

  • @alexsuchapimp you will soon

  • Frams are cheaply made and have more fail rates then others. Please go do your reading on bobistheoilguy website, compare pictures, price, filtration and you will see that Most Frams are crap, except top line Extended guard.

  • @zyxelenator1 P.S there lots of cut open pics, so you can see filters inside.

  • Little CHING CHONG CHINA piece of JUNK ENGINE!!!

  • @merkal90000 That's right..Japanese and Chinese are exactly the same...thanks for the geography lesson

  • Typical Wallmartian customer, you shop at a place that is 100% CHINA garbage.

  • @merkal90000 never once mentioned that I shop at Walmart...can't see the relevance of your comment either..lot's of spare time on your hands?

  • Wonder how much WIX paid you for this? You never show the filters being installed. Just another Fram basher

  • @cadzillals6 Odd how there are so many people with the same experience as mine using Fram filters.....I guess they are all on the Wix payroll....Fram used to make a good product...but glued cardboard endcaps and non functioning anti drainback valves have put quality in the back seat...when they have exclusive shelf space in the worlds largest retailer, they no longer need to worry about how well their filters actually work...I would love to be able to use a $3 Fram instead of a $10 Wix

  • @cadzillals6 I really don't understand the question about showing them being installed???you can see the filters on the car...both filters on the car and the car being started after sitting...what part of this is somehow some sort of misrepresentation on my part???...

  • I have used the toughguard for years and no problems. I know most damage to an enjine is done at start up. The Wix was impressive. I will have to find out where I can get a Wix. What about other brand of filters?

  • @thebigcougar I was also using the toughguards as they were rated pretty good..but the drainback after shutting the engine off for sometimes less than a minute was ridiculous...motomaster,pennzoil and quaker state are all manufactured in the same facility as fram...so I won't go near them either..Napa filters are made by wix as are penske, carquest and castrol..so they should all be a good bet

  • @fupabox Your test seemed like a good one. They look good inside but do they work as designed. Both the Fram and Wic use silicone anti-drain back valves which are supposed to be good, but do they really work. The filters might be slow after an oil change but then should work properly after that. Thanks for the info.

  • @fupabox And I've been using Fram, thinking I was doing good...I'm just going to stick to the Dealership's oil filters for my car and for my Camaro, I'll either go with Castrol or maybe dealership.

  • Fram is total garbage.

I can't believe those assholes build oil filters so badly.

I admit I sometimes used Fram years ago before I found out how bad they really were.Once I found out,I never used Fram again.

I've been using Wix for years now and wouldn't use Fram even if I got a free lifetime supply.

  • @adm7007 Wix is great....it's too bad that the world's biggest retailer (Walmart) sells only Fram...when you have that kind of exposure you can afford to build garbage, and still get away with it

  • I learned my lesson on the Liteace. I will never trust a fram again!

  • @thestuffz Isn't it amazing that they continue to build this crap?? I read several articles that said the Toghguard and extraguard were good...but neither can hold oil from draining back into the engine....I should have recorded it,I restarted a few times with the frams on and even after 10 seconds they had drained back...unreal...nice to have no oil in your lifters every time you start the car
