And even though the shark is on top of the food chain, there still have been studies shown of octopuses eating sharps. & If you really wish to stop/minimize such cruel activities of sharksfinning.
You may consider going to the local ROM office (Registry of Marriage) giving
out phamplets/flyers to the chinese bride/groom-to-be educating/advising them not to serve shark's fin soup on their official wedding day (nowadays I also refrain from eating it)

Lesser sharks means more fishes. Fishes eat phytoplanktons which is the greatest consumer of carbon dioxide for photosynthesis to give out oxygen. Phytoplanktons produce about 70% of the oxygen in our atmosphere. Sharks extinct --> abundance of fishes --> endangered, going to extinction of phytoplanktons --> oxygen level in atmosphere?? --> What do we need to live again?

@1991jaddy Both of your statements are very wrong. Shark fin soup isn't mostly served in china at all. Every chinese good restarant you go to will have it on it's menu along with asian herb shops. And even though the shark is on top of the food chain, there still have been studies shown of octopuses eating sharps. I wouldnt say the shark is the main factor in eco-system balance but just a factor.

And im proud to say i've abstained from Shark Fin Soup since young, and have strongly urged my family and friends to follow me. I make it a point to explain my reasons for my abstainment to them.
