i noticed on mine some kernels get stuck to the bottom of the stirring rod and they screetch. now i have some white scratches on the base which means the teflon was scratched off. i wonder if i should continue to use it because it may be unhealthy now
@bradyischamp mine has never gouged the teflon coating. there are some scratches but not down to the bare metal. I would not care so much but my wife probably would.
@rich6955 it is OK but we usually add more probably because we put too much popcorn in and have to split it between bowls :) We also use a fine popcorn salt after it is done popping. We use unsalted butter.
I'm 36, and I remember before video games and MTV and all that bullshit, how fun it was to watch popcorn pop in a popper with a dome, just like this. The microwave experience just isn't the same.
We still have this and still use it regularly. The oil was building up on it so I cleaned it with hot water and dish soap then used a homebrew cleaning product called PBW. Let it sit 30 minutes then rinsed with hot water. It removed 80% of the buildup. Go to your local homebrew shop and get some. Work great in dishwashers, and sinks and garbage disposals too. Also works great cleaning homebrew equipment and getting labels of beer bottles.
hey im having a hard time with the popcorn maker how do i get it so that the popcorn has a buttery taste idk if its that im not putting enough butter on the well or im using the wrong brand of pop corn ??
Fred: hey John how does it work?

Awesome. I'm going to buy one. Your video has just sold me. I will melt my butter first and add it to the oil before adding the popcorn kernels.

We used to make Jiffy Pop on the electric stove. It was magical to watch the flat shiny pan expand to huge popcorn goodness!

Back to Basics Stir-Crazy Popcorn Popper.
I love how the popping rate rises exponentially. Reminds me of a plutonium sphere fissioning.
