I have used Notes & Domino for many years, the only thing I want to say is if you REALLY know it, and really understand its strength.. you would know that there is nothing out there that compares to it. The sad thing about Lotus Notes and Domino is that too few have used it to fullest. It is 100x more than mail & calendar. I have built fabulous Web sites, work flows applications, and use the free download of IBM Designer as well as every other form of development. OPEN & Secure. I like it!
I use Notes 8.5. It's as bad as every other prior Notes client. If you're a admin that doesn't talk to users, you might like it on the back-end. If you are a user, and you actually need a functional email/calendar client, you'll wish you had something else. I'd rather use PINE than this junk.
Hasn't Lotus always been more than email and calendar?
I thought that was the point of Lotus. It's fat bloated software was fat and bloated because it enabled you to do so much MORE than just email and calendar.
10's to 100's of thousands of dollars of savings? What about the 10's to 100's of thousands or multiple millions of dollars wasted by going to Lotus in the first place?
Social networking -Sametime & Quickr- do not work as advertised on all OS's & video conferencing is shonky at best.
