@calimar28 The public option was the one thing that made healthcare desireable. Sure there are good things in it now, but without the option, it allows healthcare companies to create a monopoly which makes everything cost more. Which makes republicans happy because healthcare companies get more money so no public option=FAIL for both me and you, why wouldnt you want a public option..
@LeftLaneClosedVideos Because when the federal govt gets involved, even on an "insurance basis", it will DRIVE UP HEALTHCARE COSTS. Healthcare was fairly cheap...until the govt got involved in the 1960's...then healthcare care skyrocketed.
Same with education...it was cheap to get a degree 50 years ago. But when govt got involved and started with loans and grant, the cost skyrocketed so bad, that now it is 200,000 for a bachlors degree.
@calimar28 the public option would drive costs down, without it prices will go wild, because it forces businesses to compete with government run healthcare. Woah! gov. run healthcare?! well yes, but people who want it pay into it, no federal funding, the money comes from the people who freely choose to be a part of it, so why is it so damn bad?
@LeftLaneClosedVideos Public options drive costs UP! Whenever goverment gets involved, costs skyrocket. Doctor vists are cheap in 1961. Anyone can afford to go to the hospital. But after Medicare is passed, costs TRIPLE!
-Same with education. College tuition is cheap in 1958. 300 dollars a quarter for medical school! Even by 1958 standards, 300 is cheap. In the 60's goverment begins doing loans and grants. Costs of tuition more than quadruple in just 3 years!
@LeftLaneClosedVideos No it doesnt. Damn, I have to teach progressives basic economics again. The goverment creating their own insurance plan does nothing but drive costs up even more. The pharma plus hospitials, plus medical equipment comapnies start doubling their costs knowing the govt insurance will pay. THe other insurance companies will raise their levels only to the govt levels. So you see, a public option wouldnt do a damn thing about costs.
@LeftLaneClosedVideos Now, you could go a step further than a public option, and actually do a medicare for all or single payer system. And then it gets even worse! With goverment insuring everybody, big pharma plus hosiptals can feel free to raise their costs to whatever they feel like KNOWING the goverment will HAVE TO PAY. Just like education and just like medicare, the costs will skyrocket but even more.
-getting goverment completley OUT is the only real answer.
this is completley irrelavant to the video but i wanna see what the turks think about corporate owned life insurance, i know cenk would have some ammusing thoughts lol

ben nelson and joe lieberman are your typical career politician. they have spent a lifetime being yes men to stay in office. gutless, spineless, career lackeys, for their own self interest, whored out to the highest bidder.
they've spent their whole life on their knees begging for money.
What I don't understand is; why were people fooled?
Actually, I do get it. People like Cenk spend all their time finding the WORST arguments against Obama rather than the solid cases. He does exactly what he accuses Limbaugh (etc.) of doing.
People argue about dumb shit like Sarah Palin while the Washington crooks scam the people out of all the wealth.
The change was: things are not getting worse at the same rate. Now it is time to force Obama to start reversing it. He has started to reverse it, by getting serious on the big banks, but is it too little too late?
Should have been done in the 90s. Hell, the deregulation should not have been done at all.
its funny how hated the democrats are becoming...after everyone hated Bush, lots of dems are now changing over to the republican platform. Putting both of these joke-ass parties aside, I am waiting for the tea party to rise up and take power over this country; this is the only way the government will return to working for the people...
@hotblud82 The comedy is that the general populous's hatred of Bush stemmed from his malfeasant assertiveness, while the Democrats are becoming hated by their constituents for their malfeasant cowardice.
@manonthemount i totally agree. I heard it put an interesting way a couple days ago; with bush we got a sort of iron fist, with obama its cloaked in deceit...
obama has his "base' pissed off ,,2010 is gonna be hell for him and his administration and conservative democrats ..he thought republicans,Fox News and right wing radio gave him hell in 09 ...HA he aint seen shit yet
Who else are you going to vote for? Just curious, republicans feel the same way.
The government is preparing for bloodshed in the next few years. DHS has ordered 200,000,000 rounds of ammo from Winchester (supposedly for ICE). They know we're pissed and it doesn't seem like they're going to stop the train and turn things around.
the problem with the left wing base is we werent hard enough on the president and the rest of the 2 faced dems back in 2009 ..i just hope the "base" can dictate to the spineless obama like the right wing has dictated to him and the dems back in 2009 ..maybe he will concede to the base as he did to the republicans with his bullshit bipartisanship they spat on...besides the dems and the prez have no choice but to suck up to the base now ..the "mid term" is this november
I really don't think they're scared of elections anymore. The politicians simply do not serve 'we the people'. They don't need a base. The agenda would have been no different with McCain as prez. It's not about that. Washington is just a feeding trough for the owners of the country.
McCain would have kept on the same path, and his main economics advisor was Phil Gramm, who was behind the deregulation. McCain does not know anything ABOUT economics, so he would have let Gramm handle all that. THAT would have been EPIC FAIL. With Obama it is only partial fail, particularly if he finally gets rid of Geithner.
The current economic plans would play out regardless of whether the prez was McCain or Hillary. Bernanke owns them all. Geithner and/or Gramm are symptoms, not the problem. If Obama is 'froced' by the people to go against the agenda of the elite he will mysteriously be gunned down by a 'rightwing extremist' and prez Biden will keep the Bush train running. The problem is bigger than the prez.
Elections are an illusion. They serve only to keep the American people engaged in media-driven arguments while the rich run off with the taxpayer's money.
Who really gives a shit about Sarah Palin? Ironically, a lot of people are still very, very afraid of this now irrelevent former governer.

Change we can believe in!
A 1 trillion health care bill with 5,000 pieces of pork in there, plunging us further in debt that we will never get out of - more troops in Afghanastan - troops still in Iraq - no troops coming home from 130 nations we are in plus 700 bases. Change?
Hahahahahahahah. What a laugh. Thanks for the laughs Barak Hussien. Hey, anybody notice how long Michelles arms are? No joke, I think they hang down to her knees! Holy smokes, she is a gorilla!
If every D congressman was like me, we'd be shoving a reconciliated single payer bill down the asses of Republican congressman, starting with Rush Limbaugh and ending with Lieberman.
Look up reconciliation, retard. That could only be applied to certain parts of the bill, only about 1/5 of the entire thing. It would be political suicide, and would expire in 5 years. Remember, only around 15% of the country is made up of liberals. Also, Limbaugh is not a congressman, and Lieberman is a senator. Only 30% of the entire country support the senate and house bills. Lieberman is listening to his constituents. You guys out on the far left need to understand you're a small minority.
Gallup always claim the highest percentage as being liberal, and here is the most recent one from gallup showing 20%, with conservatives being the dominant group. I can give you a dozen or so recent polls showing support for the senate bill being in the thirties.
the link is gallup . com/poll/123854/conservatives-maintain-edge-top-ideological-group.aspx
Funny how the far left is turning this into an antisemitic rant. Lieberman is one of several moderate senators. Never before in the history of this country has a bill of this importance been shoved through on a partisan vote. The fact that even they cannot agree should tell you something. This is a fight between the left and far left. Liberals comprise a mere 15% of the entire country yet they think everyone else should bow down to their agenda.
Are you even aware of the fight that's been going on in the right between fiscal conservatives/libertarian types and the social conservative fascists since the latter have been taking control these past decades?
I am a former democrat, and yes I'm aware of the fight within the republican party. I now consider myself independent with moderate libertarian views.
Sorry if I offended you. I say the same thing to people I perceive as being way off to the right of things. I would like to see all labels thrown aside, and for people to have to vote based on their own beliefs, and not what their leaders tell them they should think. I never understood ppl blindly following a single party. I see good and bad in all of them.
And we'd think that people would be smart enough to do exactly that (especially Americans) but it really seems to be the exact opposite. Look up an Obama/McCain/Palin/Bush/Kerry rally and see how people answer political questions, such as the all time toughie: What do you agree with Candidate X on?
Some people just aren't informed enough to make decisions, so labels help spoonfed them. It's an embarrassing truth.
I couldn't agree more, but I don't think there is much that can be done about that. It's essentially trying to get people to think, where do you start?
It is known throughout the history of the world that The Jews are all about making money, and they dont care if they have to starve u to death to get what they want.
As long as there is Jews law makers deciding for the people of this country, nothing will be changed or done for the people.
I will never subscribe to any scumbag insurance healthcare base plans, If I have to die from any illnesses than happy I go.. So lone..
Lieberman cares not that the illegal war crime wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are breaking this country. Isreal has national healthcare and with all the money we send them, that is how Israel pays for it.
We have war for Israel, Universal healthcare for Israel and we the US people pay for it. Lieberman should move to Israel because that is who he represents not the people of the USA
Lieberman needs to be assassinated like the dirty greedy JEWBAG he is. The insurance companies in CT paid for that JEWBOY and he no needs a bullet in his head. FUCK THE JEW!
TGP0422 I don't know where you got your definition from but in a democracy people vote for the person they want to run the country based on their promises and whatnot.
If politicians that I voted in didn't back up their shit I would tell them to fuck off too.
I'm interested to see how these new compromises will affect public opinion. According to all recent polls while things like the public option and medicare buy-in was on the table public support for the bill was at 35%. If liberals now oppose the bill because of no public option I wonder how low support will go. Liberals are only around 15% of the country but still that could drag support down to 25-30% level.
OMG, Cenk has exactly the right message that needs to be sent. WTF are the Dems with clout thinking letting themselves be rolled by these disgusting corrupt idiots?
The people's voice lol? You need to look at the polls. The American people overwhelmingly oppose the senate bill, not support it. I think you mean the liberal/progressive voice. Cenk is also wrong about how many votes they need, they must have 60 votes to shut off debate.
Clinton tried that back in the 90's. Through reconciliation they would only be able to apply this process to certain parts of the bill, and it would be political suicide. Not going to happen. If this bill dies it will happen in conference I believe. They will pass something though, they have decided something is better than nothing. Remember when the anointed one said all this would take place on C-span?
I wish so bad that one or two REAL democrats would filibuster with the rescumicans , so that this leibersteaming pile of shit would be sent back to square one.
The cowards are scrambling to pass ANYTHING that says "healthcare" on it, because they are all afraid of the huge backlash for their failures that is coming in 2010 .
i cant believe we are letting this asshole slow down healthcare reform. its so frustrating... I hope republican dont continue to scream that dems and the obama administration isnt compromising and trying to be bipartisan. we are letting this jerk leiberman call the shots. is this bizzaro world or something, i thought a democrat won the white house, i thought the dems own the house and the senate, get it together we are sooo close. please get his thing done already
The longer it drags on the more moderates are going to become nervous about re-election. Public support for the bill you want so bad is way under 50%. You are correct about the dems owning congress. Republicans have no power currently, this is a fight between the left and the far left. A lot of these moderates are from conservative districts, and are being hammered by their constituents. With national support for the bill being around 35% you can imagine how low it is in conservative districts.
I agree. I cant be a Republican for obvious reasons, but I cant bring myself to call myself a Democrat because of how pathetically weak they seem to be on all the issues.
yo wudup its Nico Robles and i just want to say that everyone should come check out my channel and listen to my song....it is not finalized yet it is just a ruff copy...im 17 years old and tryin to make a name for myself....come check it out hit me and leave comments if you like!!!!SUBSCRIBE!!!!
Oh my god I almost fell for his barbarian powers of mind control! He wants to create a Islamic state and kill all Christians and Jews! I beg forgiveness!!!! XD
Awesome Cenk! You took the words right out of my mouth. The Dems need to lose the "Republican-lite" crowd and focus on truly being the progressive party and giving America a real choice.Too bad Cenk can't run for president.I'd vote for him in a heatbeat.
Why do the Dems either wimp out or sell out whilst pretending they're neither? At least the Reps are up front about being selfish, money grabbing bastards.
If there's a less principled politicial than Joe Lieberman I haven't seen him. The guy just sticks sticks his small cock in the Democratic Party's ass every chance he gets, and the Democrats let him. FUCK JOE LIEBERMAN!
Look to Arlen Specter as your least principled guy. When he was an (R) he voted with the dems about 65%. When he was an (R) in trouble he voted with the repubs 90%. Now that he is a (D) he votes with the dems 90%. This all took place last spring. Specter is truly a candle blowing in the wind.
Bullshit is right ..the congress is lost to corporate lobbyist Liebermann needs to be kicked out of the congress and even out of the country ..u give em the up yours sign for all of us
How awesome would it be if Grayson were president?
Here's your health care reform: single payer. What's that, Republicans? You want a compromise? Here's your compromise: single payer. Suck it down, bitches.
Sorry, America has proven themselves to be a nation of cowards and nincompoops, if this country was serious we would sweep everyone out of Washington and start over, but shit, most Americans don't even care what is done in their names and they will not pay attention for any reason. You couldn't give these people a clue if it came with a $50 bill. - I have no hope left for my country, I think we all sat on our asses for fart too long and it looks more and more hopeless everyday.
Yes I still think there is a difference between the parties (I will still never vote for any republican, they have zero values period) - however I am finding it less and less likely that I will ever vote Democratic again either. We need a true left party in this country and I tell you what, they would destroy both Dems and Repugs, because the American people Do Want their country to stand up for and provide for them.
Why do the American Politicians feel so compelled to be mindful and respectful to each other at all times.. I like watching British politics where you at least get the occasional throwing of the gauntlet followed by a well deserved insult.
Cenk i beleave its time for anothe rally this time lets do it in every city and town and protest others beside cnn come on TYT call on your army im with you all the way lets show the tea baggers how to rally lol
When the Christian Fascists take over, Joe'll be the first one asking "How can I help, guys?!" Consequently, he'll be the first one to have his dried up Hobbit-ass violated in their rape rooms.
The act of illustrating or the state of being illustrated.
My point being that Capitalism is ALL about money. 100%. NOT politics. Politics is a front to cover their real agenda. Which is to make as much money as possible at the expense of the people.
Capitalism is NOT designed for the majority, but for the minority.
@EnhancementSmoker My example was saying how people in Capitalism will screw over friends and side with the enemy in order to make gain. But your dumb ass couldn't understand that.
This is what happens in a Country when people put 2hrs of research when deciding what phone to buy and 2mins of research when deciding who to vote for.
Cenk these guys are not sellouts. Anyone who thinks the Democratic party should be progressive is kidding themselves. Democrats have just as much of a vested interest in the status quo as republicans.
If you want actual progressive change you need a 3rd party. And we all know that is impossible in the American system.

You guys out on the far left need to understand you're a small minority.
icecoldbeerr 2 years ago
Shut up Booze.
15% liberals? Last time I checked Gallup it was in the high 20s.
30% support? According to Gallup, it is 46% yes, 48% no and it was very high before Fox, rabid neocon pundits, and the GOP got through with tit..
I KNOW Limbaugh is not a Congressman. That was meant to prove a point.
Lieberman=senator=congressman retard.
Savior20061 2 years ago
Gallup always claim the highest percentage as being liberal, and here is the most recent one from gallup showing 20%, with conservatives being the dominant group. I can give you a dozen or so recent polls showing support for the senate bill being in the thirties.

1911arthur 2 years ago 2
Funny how the far left is turning this into an antisemitic rant. Lieberman is one of several moderate senators. Never before in the history of this country has a bill of this importance been shoved through on a partisan vote. The fact that even they cannot agree should tell you something. This is a fight between the left and far left. Liberals comprise a mere 15% of the entire country yet they think everyone else should bow down to their agenda.
icecoldbeerr 2 years ago
Are you even aware of the fight that's been going on in the right between fiscal conservatives/libertarian types and the social conservative fascists since the latter have been taking control these past decades?
Or are you just that brazenly stupid?
Savior20061 2 years ago
I am a former democrat, and yes I'm aware of the fight within the republican party. I now consider myself independent with moderate libertarian views.
icecoldbeerr 2 years ago
Meh, I can respect you as a libertarian. At least when libertarians talk about lower gov't they actually mean it.
I knew I remember seeing that page somewhere but the link is broken.
Savior20061 2 years ago
Sorry if I offended you. I say the same thing to people I perceive as being way off to the right of things. I would like to see all labels thrown aside, and for people to have to vote based on their own beliefs, and not what their leaders tell them they should think. I never understood ppl blindly following a single party. I see good and bad in all of them.
icecoldbeerr 2 years ago
And we'd think that people would be smart enough to do exactly that (especially Americans) but it really seems to be the exact opposite. Look up an Obama/McCain/Palin/Bush/Kerry rally and see how people answer political questions, such as the all time toughie: What do you agree with Candidate X on?
Some people just aren't informed enough to make decisions, so labels help spoonfed them. It's an embarrassing truth.
Savior20061 2 years ago
I couldn't agree more, but I don't think there is much that can be done about that. It's essentially trying to get people to think, where do you start?

We have war for Israel, Universal healthcare for Israel and we the US people pay for it. Lieberman should move to Israel because that is who he represents not the people of the USA

I'm interested to see how these new compromises will affect public opinion. According to all recent polls while things like the public option and medicare buy-in was on the table public support for the bill was at 35%. If liberals now oppose the bill because of no public option I wonder how low support will go. Liberals are only around 15% of the country but still that could drag support down to 25-30% level.
icecoldbeerr 2 years ago
OMG, Cenk has exactly the right message that needs to be sent. WTF are the Dems with clout thinking letting themselves be rolled by these disgusting corrupt idiots?
GrownupPhan 2 years ago
Cenk would be a kick ass politician. The people's voice! President or Senator.. he is the only one at this point that I would vote for.
mattg400194 2 years ago
The people's voice lol? You need to look at the polls. The American people overwhelmingly oppose the senate bill, not support it. I think you mean the liberal/progressive voice. Cenk is also wrong about how many votes they need, they must have 60 votes to shut off debate.
icecoldbeerr 2 years ago
icecold, they only need 56 to pass the bill through a process called reconciliation
xxshady 2 years ago
Clinton tried that back in the 90's. Through reconciliation they would only be able to apply this process to certain parts of the bill, and it would be political suicide. Not going to happen. If this bill dies it will happen in conference I believe. They will pass something though, they have decided something is better than nothing. Remember when the anointed one said all this would take place on C-span?

curtrob 2 years ago
The longer it drags on the more moderates are going to become nervous about re-election. Public support for the bill you want so bad is way under 50%. You are correct about the dems owning congress. Republicans have no power currently, this is a fight between the left and the far left. A lot of these moderates are from conservative districts, and are being hammered by their constituents. With national support for the bill being around 35% you can imagine how low it is in conservative districts.
