Now, When you're tasked with destroying the GDI base, don't actually try to destroy the base. Just do bombing runs against it and built up your base and forces until the renagade Nod show up and pwn GDI. Attack the Nod base with your bombers and special attack abilities. Aim for the powerplants to cripple the defenses. Send in the spam force to further weaken their defense and bring in the Avatars to finsih them off.
Personally, I used three attack groups for most Nod missions and battles. I can't remember what you have avaible in Temple Prime so I'm giving you my basic attack sratagey. Built 2-3 airports and load them with bombers. Built a large spamming force of tanks. A large number cycles, buggies and Scropions or a group of 12-15 stealth tanks work great. Then a smaller, powerful group of fully upgrated Avatars and maybe some beam tanks.
The renegade attack force is also commanded by the player. Lol, L.E.G.I.O.N.
