  • my favorite movie as a child and this is the theme song I remember....wish it was available to buy....I would hum this song all the time, always LOVED IT....thanks so much for posting it!

  • THIS is the theme song I remember from the early episodes. Living in the UP of Michigan, we got a lot of Canadian tv shows. This one was the best. Saturday afternoons it was "The Littlest Hobo", Lawrence Welk (fed from Sheboygan), polka music, wrestling or roller derby.

  • When did Terry's theme started to be used on the show?

  • This was only used on the FIRST/pilot episode. The singer and lyrics were changed afterwards and a different theme was played on subsequent episodes.

  • I grew up with this show and tune in the 60's ...thanks for posting it :)

  • Yeah!! I went looking for this cause I LOVED the littlest hobo-lie the person below said- middle-ager who'se remembering tv from when I was little. I loved this dog and I SO wanted him to find a home-and get looked after and loved. Thanks for the song, I played the beginning of the other one- but its not THE song- doesnt cut it.

  • Memories.

  • A German shepherd ate my little brother.

  • @glimmer2158 , good food, fresh.....hahhahahahah

  • @glimmer2158 I tried to feed mine to a German Shepard, but it spit him out!!

  • Ah, excellent. Someone linked to the other theme, and I listened for a second and realized that it wasn't the one I wanted to hear, and a moment or two of looking brought this up. Like many other sad middle-agers, I've had bits of the music in my head for years from those slow afternoons after school of looking at the five channels we got six or seven times. By cracky.

  • This was an excellent show - still on the air in reruns on CTV stations in Canada

on Saturdays Mornings at 8:30 A.M. local time and on Saturday and Sundays

on most "A" Channel stations at 12:00 Noon local time (2-1/2 hr shows back to back)

  • vvvv

  • i agree not as great as the later version,

doesnt have the same energy to me

:P the later version makes me want to eat my fingers and shove corncobs into mailboxes then take off my powdered colour hat and do a saving of my own

are you still reading this? i am not lol.. im sure it shows..lol

  • The orginal series holds so many fond memories for me. I had been searching for this soundtrack for so many years. Today very few people recall the original series; some of my friends don't believe it even existed. Now I have proof!

The soundtrack is worthy of re-recording by someone! Please! The later series had "Maybe Tomorrow" - nice song but like this original much better....

  • I think I remembered watching at least one episode of the original Littlest Hobo as a small toddler , I do recall seeing a production logo at the end of the episode that had a drawing of Cleopatra or some member of Egyptian royality from her era .

  • I'm crying because this show/song brings back memories of such innocent, carefree times.....

  • I'm crying because this show/song brings back such innocent, carefree times.....

  • I remember when this show came out around 1964, I had a german sheperd dog that looked like Hobo, the show came out again in reruns in 1968, I still have a recording also of the theme I had made with a tape recorder, thanks for posting.

  • i think RuselKerr, AtomicMutant, Whitetrashoutlaw & Salemkid1979 are going to be very disappointed, it is definitely not that kind of adult action, dirty buggers.

  • What amazes me is how many people have posted dance mix versions of this song, almost as much as it amazes me that nobody has posted any original episodes of this show on YouTube.

  • its worse than lassie. it keeps coming back

  • @idontsignin you should have been aborted so you would never come back.

  • @mferg240 and that means, answers on a postcard to nobody gives a flying fuck what you think.

  • @idontsignin your worse than lassie, you keep coming back. miserable prick.

  • @mferg240 well if you keep on commenting back then i will reply, you silly fucking bawbag, away you go and act you age for god sake your 42 not 5

  • that realyl sucks compared to the new one

  • @analyzingfunny dumb young person that you are.

  • @mferg240 really, just sayin, dickhead, that this sucks compared to other version. just a personal preference.

Should I have said, "i prefer the other version to this"? Then would that appease your dickheadedness?

Hey lets try this just for fun:

I'll start all over with a new comment, then you dick-head it up with a smart ass reply, ok?

Its just my preference, but I prefer the newer version to the old.

ok your turn to make a dick head of your self... go..

  • Adult action featuring a german shepherd!? sounds like something that should be on those german cable channels at 1am, lmao

  • Adult action with german shepherds and little hobos? Sounds sexy, I gotta see this show.

  • @whitetrashoutlaw The Littlest Hobo IS a German Shepherd. The show was similar to Lassie, except that it was about the adventures of a stray dog who drifted from town to town. (I know, where were the local dog catchers? I used to watch this show and I never saw one.)

  • holy i've never seen the original version of this show! This is awesome

  • I kinda disagree, as this is a very good song, its just differant but just beautiful!

  • 'Adult Action!'?

    Is Cujo in it!?

    Cujo vs Littles Hobo!

That would be a hardcore fight!

  • Not as good as the 80's theme... sorry

  • Comment removed

  • @no1funkymonkeyman it hasnt got a patch on the 80s version your bang on

  • Heavens to Murgatroid! What a cool theme song! Strictly from bow wowsville, daddy-o! THANKS for sharing this delightful "blast from the past" with us! :)

  • I could make a "Jungle-Mix" outta this tune!!! =o)

  • @ronzzzzz81 Do it then. if ya do i'll do a drum and bass tune from it. msg me if up for the challenge!

  • @TheSatNavs go on then il do a dubstep remix :)

  • @serloinz Nice one.. Look forward to hearing it, ill get cracking on this week also :)

  • Holy shit. This is crap. Prefer the other version 100%

  • Surely one of the most bizarre and miserable shows ever to hit the screen. I wish I'd been at the pitch - it's a mystery to me how anyone could have greenlighted such a lame, depressing concept.

  • That's hilarious that this was promoted as an ADULT action series. It's always been a kid's show as far as I'm concerned. I always liked the B&W original over the remake.

  • I LOVE this: it brings back such memories. Someone said Randy Sparks sang this? I will have to look for that record.

  • wow, that's awesome, brings back a lot of memories..thanks

  • Perhaps posthumous to Jack London? Either way, great name for a dog.

  • That's the Littlest Hobo theme that I remember. I loved that show. They should have more shows like this for kids today. It was absolutely wonderful.

  • I was the only one of my friends who watched this but that was ok because I had a dog for company.

  • I watched this show when I was a kid in the 60s...loved the music. Thanks for the post. Brought back wonderful memories!!!

  • I remember watching this with my mom so long ago What a wonderful memory you brought back. From the bottom of my heart thank you for posting this.

  • What a great show thanks for posting

  • oh my gosh: i remember seeing this show on tv around 1963--when i was a kid--and i loved watching it--thanks for posting!

  • who sung this? it sounds a little like Neil Sedaka.......

  • Randy Sparks sings this original theme song..he went on to become one of the New Christy Minstrels in the 60's..i've been looking for the record which supposedly is on the VERVE label circa 1958 when the movie came out

  • I'm only 15 and never saw this version of the littlest hobo, I managed to watch my mom's littlest hobo VHS's as a kid and loved them.

This is a god songs and makes a lot of sense to the show..sounds christmasy to me though.

  • 1967 that means this dog must have died 40 years ago.

  • ya they replaced a new dog

  • Comment removed

  • Oh yes this song is correct.

  • Gawd I haven't heard this song in probably 40 years!! Brings back such great memories. Thanx for posting.

  • i remember the show when it first came out in 1963, then in reruns i n 1967, and I still have my old tape recording of the song.

  • London after Jack London ? Buck was the name of the German Sheperd in Call of The Wild.

  • Actually it was a man who was trapped in an underground complex where they build robots and other weapons designed to take over the world but then ultraman rescued the trapped fellow, then later the man said ty and later named his dog Porky....

so yeah i dunno actually and i made that up :P

  • i really miss this same song, but in his lates version that one is so fucking good

  • We used to watch this series as kids in b&w TV. When the dog moved on at the end of the episode my baby sister always used to cry, as his "master" or "misstress" for that show had to let him go. My sister turned 48 today. The song made me cry today...................

  • ADULT ACTION

  • Bow bucka-bow-wow!!!

  • @AtomicMutant

    BROWN CHICKEN, BROWN COW

  • they couldn't cut out the background between the dogs legs as well? come on! that's just lazy.

  • I remember back to 7 years old. When I watched TV proglam in Japan and that days as time goes by.

  • i got a full eposoide uploaded on my acc go take a look theres 3 part more veiws i get more i put up

  • Was it the same dog all the way through?

  • No, there were several "Londons" used, all related though I believe.

  • Please watch my new video. It is the first episode of a series about my dog Emma that I was inspired to make by The Littlest Hobo.

  • Thanks for posting original opening. I hadn't heard or seen it in #$% years.

  • THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU!!!

I've been looking for the original opening for this for ages!!

It always made me so sad for London; nobody to love him or take care of him. So lonely and sad. Haunting tune.

Thank-you very, very much for posting this!

    50 stars to you!!

    :D

  • He had to move around because he didn't want to endanger the people who were good to him.

  • I liked the original version. He didn't want to continually move around. He had to because the bad guys were always on his "tail". Always setting him up to take the blame for some crime they committed. Setting was during the depression.

  • A NEW ADULT ACTION TELEVISION SERIES? I thought it was a kids programme? In the 80's it was just no brainer tv about that dog that just wandered from one 30 minute drama that had a happy ending and a new owner (which was rejected everytime) to another.

  • Wait a minute! This can't be the same "London" who was in the 80s series!

  • Turns out the "upbeat" version that begins with

"traveling around from town to town" is the closing theme song (it's the second verse) and also available on Youtube.

  • ROAD WITHOUT END Theme from "The Littlest Hobo" (1963-1965) I find adventure everywhere And friends with whom I'd like to share This is my stop along the way Don't really know how long I'll stay Stop over. The world is my friend Stop over along the road without end Traveling around from town to town Sometimes I think I'll settle down But I know I'd hunger to be free Rovin' is the only life for me A-driftin'. The world is my friend I'm travelin' along the road without end
  • I remember the upbeat version of this song too, which went straight into "Traveling Around From TOwn to Town." It's called Road Without End and you can find the lyrics online.

  • I remember thatupbeat version...but haven't been able to find it. I think it was used from 1964 on.

  • Seems very tough to find the more upbeat version of this theme song, as people have said, by a lower bass voice...theme starting out with drumming train rythmn...and into "Travelling around from town to town, sometimes I think I'll settle down, but I know I hunger to be free..." Any idea where one can find this?

  • PLEASE TELL ME...what song is that called? That's played as an intro to "The littlest hobo" show...

please tell me because I want this song played at my funeral -as sad as that sounds

  • Terry Bush sings that song. However, there is a later version that is slightly upbeat...

  • you can get the newer version from limewire i got it but its a short version

  • wow i never knew that their had being a different theme tune prefer the other one but respect to those that grew up with this

  • thanks for the lyrics and the tune. i want to coer this song and might add here as a video response when i'm done.

    cheers

tex whatever (the original cowboy slacker...giddyup/who cares?)

  • I did some checking on Internet Movie Database, this song may be sung by Randy Sparks, I believe he was in the New Christy Minstrels singing group.

  • The B&W Series used a cut down version.

    This is the full version:

The Road Without End - Sung by Randy Sparks

Verve Records circa 1960 - Now the Verve Music Group

  • Looks like where coming into town

Feels like this train is slowing down

Can't help but wonder whats in store

Could be we've been here once before

A Drifting the world is my friend

I'm traveling along the road without end

Riding these rails town to town

Sometimes I long to settle down

But I know I'd hunger to be free

Roving the only life for me

  • A Drifting the world is my friend

I'm traveling along the road without end

    Goodbye to railing for awhile

So long to counting every mile

This is a stop along my way

Don't really no how long I'll stay

Stop over might make a new friend

Stop over on the road without end

  • A Drifting the world is my friend

I'm traveling along the road without end

    Goodbye to railing for awhile

So long to counting every mile

This is a stop along my way

Don't really no how long I'll stay

Stop over might make a new friend

Stop over on the road without end

  • wow!! you got a few of the words wrong!

  • I finally found this show from my childhood..thank you! I wonder if there was another version of this, the song I remember from when I was a kid had a singer with a deeper voice, but the lyrics of this one are about the same.

  • I want to watch Littlest Hobo (1963) - Japanese Original Opening.

  • Although I remember the series, I never did know the dog's name was LONDON, until today!

  • This black and white tv series had a big impact on me as a boy - I only knew the other version of this theme song which I still sometimes sing in my head today. Would be awesome to see the actual opening/closing credits again!

  • This is the version I remember too. I like the other versions also. Thank you so much for posting this

  • so the original dog was called London as was the dog from the 80s tv show? One old dawg! And yeah, agree with chookter1 all the same.

  • Why do Canadians and Americans hate each other. Your the same to us! Anyway, London must have been at least 154 in doggy years by the Canadian version???

  • Same could be said about the English and the Irish right? LMFAO!

  • Lol, nobody gives a shit about the Irish apart from the Americans.

  • Kinda like no one gives a shit about the American except the British?

  • They hold the world economy in their shaky hands, why shouldnt we

  • Haha, so true... lol

  • HI TOM GREEN

  • Does anyone know who wrote this theme song?

  • I have never heard this song before...I watched the show when I was a kid (in Canada). Was the other "Maybe Tomorrow" song I always remember.I watched in the late 70's early 80's and wasn't this song.

  • Our (better) Canadian one was based on this older American version, some law requiring CBC to dump money into Canadian shows so we don't watch all American shows (same reason we have Robson Arms I believe).

  • Is called the "Canadian Content" law.True,North,Strong and Free EH!!LOL

  • oops I see someone has already mentioned the other lyrics, and yes I know , I even questioned myself as I typed it...should be "rovin's the only life for me.

  • Thank you so much for posting and sharing this,.I've been trying to get this original for years, this is the closest yet, though I prefer the later version with the deeper voice this is so great to hear again. The end lyrics are different as well ie travellin around from town to town, sometimes I think I'll settle down but I know I'd hunger to be free..travellin's the only life for me.

  • perpetualsnow thank you so much for posting this. This is the version that I remember from childhood. It brings back so many great memories. Thanks for the walk back in time. :)

  • 子供の時見た覚えがあります。名犬ロンドンのタイトルだったと思います。

  • Wow....I remember watching this show as a child (I'm almost 53 now), and the melody of this theme has stuck in my head all these years. I've been looking for it for decades, and this is the first time I've found it anywhere. Thank you!

  • was there another version, i seem to recall the singers' voice was deeper when i saw it in australia.

could be my hazy memory however!

  • ya late 70's to mid 80's there was another one.

  • Mr. tilon2000, you're right! I heard that this Canadian TV series (63-65) had at least two different versions of the theme song. The version here was used only for the very early episode(s). Another version (with the same melody) was sung by a different singer whose voice was much deeper. You have a great memory! Then, as Mr. CodeOuch mentioned, this Canadian series was later followed by the US TV series (79-85) that had a totally different theme song. I thank both of you for the valuable input!

  • thank you and CodeOuch for the info.

i have been collecting tv themes from youtube and your listing is the only one for littlest hobo i could find of the original series. however it sounded too light to me from memory as when i watched the show as a kid it had a kind of sadness to it which was part of it's charm. the theme song set the the mood by adding a touch of pathos which i felt when london always had to move on.

  • Thank You

I have been trying to find this theme tume for ages, Fondly remember this series from the 60s.

  • the best that I remembered about the littlest hobo was when the dog saved the sheep from the slaughter house.

  • I've recently watched the DVD. London was saving the horses in that episode. Sheep, horses, and people...he was always a great rescuer, wasn't he? Thank you so much for the comment!

  • in the original movie there was a girl in a wheelchair and the hobo saved a sheep from the slaughter house and brought the sheep back to her. I think this was in the 50s.

  • I remember this movie as a boy and yes this song has haunted me. I remember the boy taking the collar off London so London coul
