On cars with massive amounts of horsepower, the clutch may not be strong enough to start grabbing from a dead stop if you're giving it full throttle. Think about the engine spinning the disc at full bore and having something try to grab that spinning disc...that's a lot to ask of those parts. So the clutch disc slips while being pressured and burns up.

@krazor14 when your holding the clutch the engine can rev freely and has no relation to the drivetrain (transmission to wheels)once you release the clutch pedal the clutch is engaged with the engine essentially, this guy had the ebrake on, locking the rear wheels as well as the trans and clutch disc, then he started giving it gas while engaging the clutch, since the wheels were locked the clutch disc isnt going to move so if engines flywheel is trying to spin while againt the clutch

@krazor14 disc, and the clutch isnt moving since the wheels are locked the engines flywheel is going to just start spinning and you know what happens when to objects are spinning against eachother, they get very hot and start to burn, and since the flywheel is aluminum or steel, and the clutch disc is made of soft grippy material the clutch disc is going to lose all its friction material, and longer be of use, that is why its called "burning your clutch" hope i helped you understand the clutch

Yeah I was worried about the camera man walking in front of the car. Especially given that the driver is demonstrably not in full control of the vehicle. @kcmasta in simple terms the engine is spinning and the clutch is spinning. when you let the clutch out the flywheel of the engine and clutch of the transmission connect which turns the driveshaft of the trans which turns the wheels. burning the clutch is when the engine is at high rpms spinning fast and the clutch isn't spinning fast. when they touch the friction literally burns the clutch. wears it down. hope that helps you understand better
