I keep returning to this game to watch what I saw in 1972...now my 56 year old eyes are watering as they did 39 years ago. 'WHAT A GOAL...WHAT A GOAL' !! giant killing at it's best....the stuff of dreams.....years before football died of gluttony.
Tell you what i'm not even connected to Hereford, I'm a Birmingham City fan but this clip is quality it just sums up what football should be about. Quality tune too.
I'm a yank who has little exposure to English football. But, even I can appreciate this special moment in sports. I actually get chills watching this clip and the other YT copies of it. What a goal! Wish we had a great football system like you all have over there.
i'd never seen or heard of this until today.. and being a canadian i am not as well versed in european football as some. more specifically the uefa, fa, champions cups histories. despite that this goal is still one of the most remarkable goals i have ever seen in any football match. i wish they could do something similar to the FA cup in hockey where the "minnows" have a chance at glory. i assume in hockey terms.. this upset would be akin to say an echl team beating an nhl team.
did anyone EVER hit a single shot quite that well, or quite that HARD, ever again.?..and in the mud and cold and gloom...this moment should be included in the time next time capsule we send out on a deep space probe..just unforgettable.
this is awesome ~:) my dad passed away in 1998. he's remember this. and told me all about ricky george and ronnie radford and hereford classic football :D i'm glad to remember by my dad :)
absolutely fabulous. may not be the best goal ever but may be the purest strike of a ball ever. The way the keeper goes for it helps with the look of it too and he also did this goal on what looked like an horrendous park. Well done Ronnie and i believe that Hereford were a non league team so his goal should get bumped the greatest goals ever just for that alone. After all you would expect Maradona to score wonder goals. Big thanks to John Motson too. Great commentary.
In my opinion the finest goal of all time. Ask any football fan (who was around in 1972) if they remember 'The Ronnie Radford Goal'. Most will remember it.
The greatest goal ever? It'd certainly get my vote. Radford was quoted in a magazine interview years later (Four Four Two probably) that it 'sat up just begging to be hit' and we're forever grateful he did just that. Superb.
WHY? whats wrong with Anoraks? I had several mate...you were a "nobody" if you did not have an Anorak..a can of Vimto at half time was also considered "obligatory"...(lol)

What a goal, what an achievement by a non-league team to beat the mighty Newcastle in the F.A.Cup, the oldest and greatest competition in the world.
I was at this game, it was just amazing and this wonderful video clip brings it all back. Thanks
