ok this is about bikes (madone 6.9) but if somebody, anybody buys a very expensive car doesn't make him a quote: "fucking idiot" nor the guy buying a cheap car turns out smart, at the end of the day we all are consumers and we buy accordingly to our needs, and buying power (how much money we posses) but more important it depends on our choices.
No offense - you have to be a fucking idiot to spend $8000 on a bike unless you're on the Tour De France, which then it is just given to you. A trek 1000-1200 does just fine. I always laugh at candy asses that have these bikes.
The madone is the best off-the-shelf frame. As a whole concept its head and shoulders above anything else. They took stiffness and comfort into consideration when designing it, too.
When you consider that the madone is made in the US, its a bargain of a frame (£1600 UK), which is something scott, pinarello, etc cant do. I`m not saying that US made bikes are better, but scott, cervelo, pinarello must be making a LOT more money per frame.
The scott addict may be lighter, but thats about all...
If weight were everything, that would be a big deal. The Scott also weighs less than a Pinarello Prince and a Colnago C-50, but I wouldn't imagine many people comparing that bike to either of those proud steeds. The Madone is revolutionary for its great balance between the key road biking features necessary for "ultimate" ride quality. Any number of reviewers, riders and non-biased parties can admit to this! It's not the fastest, lightest or smoothest, but it provides a wonderful balance.
Well, if the Scott Addict would help me win the Tour. Then I'll take a Scott instead of a Trek. A couple of pounds lighter, is a big difference. You're looking at more carbon components + Stiffer ride + better road feel = faster ride.
Except for the climbing stage setups youd be real surprised by how heavy a lot of pro bikes are. I remember Tommekes were sometimes up close to 19lbs. Of course hes a big guy too, but for most UCI pro tour events where youre spending 99% of your time in the Peloton, durability and comfort are your main priorities. However those things are less sexy and tangible in the showroom, and weight is a good way to give the customer a simple numeric measure of how good a bike is.
You are right. I find comfort and efficiency more valuable than weight. If you aren't comfortable in the saddle, than you won't perform well. Simple as that.
@dahgutone Another dick head talking crap. Inaccurate and lazy use of the throw away ' a couple of pounds lighter'. We are talking grams and not pounds; don't write drivel and expect not to be laughed at! I know of Scott bike that have been trashed by strong riders. I also know of people who have had trek machines fall off vehicles at speed on the road (me) and the bike has survived.

LOL relatalk this is a top trek madone medel , isnt DuoTrap built in
born2ball1991 1 year ago
Amazing how when things get wider, they get lighter ... usually the opposite happens. I guess Trek has its own laws of physics.

The newer 6.9 madone frame is way better, oclv2 carbon, improved fork, and DuoTrap mounting built in.
jimihendrix731 1 year ago
what the hell is this black thing on the fork? have they ever heard of DuoTrap?

@mpoho2000 Fuck Off obviously your not good enough to be spending this kind of money on a GOOD bike.

@thesergreatvids Having an expensive bike doesn't automatically make you good, now does it? A good cyclist can do well with a crappy bike.

i have a trek madone 4.5 , but im changing it for the madone 6,9 pro
and i made a test drive to the scott addict r1 , but what can i say , the madone its better
weight its not everything , also the mininum weight for competition is 6,8kg by the UCI
so who cares if scott is like 6,4 kg and trek is 6,7 or 6,8
