The strangest part of that statement (from the fanart) is that it actually fits the Hetalia canon pretty well. Probably the most thematically rich element of the series is Italy opening Germany's eyes to simple joys and pleasures of life, encouraging him to back away from ambition and power-mongering. The grandson of Rome, he knows that power and strength are finite, but that love is not.

The French had it so bad that citizens had all learned a martial art called Savate just to protect themselves from day to day. And don't even get me started on Napoleon. As romantic as the French are portrayed in today's stereotypes..... France really was a cruel place.
