I found a release of the raws for the series, but it requires a membership to the website 'fileserve' which unfortunately I don't have. besides that I've yet to find a release of the raws. I may buy a DVD of the series when I go to Japan in march if by any miracle I find any, but no promises. If you have a fileserve membership, pm me and I'll send you the links.

Well the English dubs are no loss!

They degraded the original meaning of the series and were, frankly embarrassing!

The dubbing was hideous and beyond a laugh.

In the early 80's I was able to grab four of the "American" episodes from an associate that recorded them in '76 on a U-Matic machine. There are at least four out there and believe me they're awful!

I grew up on this series when it was first aired here in 1967. By the end of the 60's the PTA had condemned it.

The ;last time I saw this cartoon was in 76. I was very surprised that they were showing it since it was in black and white and very early in the morning, probably five thirty in the morning. But when I got up to look at the show they never showed the first episode. I thought maybe I missed it but I was very sure I didn't but when they started airing repeats they still didn't show it. The show was only aired for about two months and then disappeared never to be seen again.

I don't see it mentioned in the comments, so I'm assuming no one here knows that the English dubs of this series are lost, presumably destroyed. And the master prints of the original Japanese version were damaged in a fire.

I too watched this in the 60's when it was new, and I've been very sad the last few years to think I would never see it again. Thanks muchly for posting this.

I remember seeing this when I was little!!! It was the dubbed version back in 1969. I <3 Wonder 3 (Amazing Three in the dubbed) and I'm so glad to see a subtitled version here. Many thanks for bringing back one of my happier childhood memories!  ^__^

@TheDemonAnjel Thank you for the compliment! I'm sure they're available somewhere, but i have yet to find it. A friend has already messaged me saying that they plan to upload every episode (in Japanese without subtitles), and my plan is to upload the raws as i get them. No promises though. And I'd recommend subscribing to my "Magicgirlanime" youtube channel rather than this one, since that channel lets me upload the entire episode, whereas this channel has had that privilege taken away.

This series includes a theme that Tezuka often used in his stories of what I describe as "impossible love" between people who are of different species.

In the course of the story, Bokko falls in love with Shinichi who only sees Bokko as a friend and her love is never recognized or returned. Only when Shinichi looses Bokko does he realize what has been lost.

Tezuka's Bagi is another example.

As a child, this taught me to accept love no matter where it comes from even other species.

@Steaphany Yes, thank you for your comments on this 60's cartoon. I agree, this small, cartoon spoke a lot about human behavior and inter-action with concepts alien and un-acceptable for that time. And these concepts still hold true today. I believe if this story-line was given to the right people in the movie industry, it would have a greater impact on humanity than it did back in our time . . .

They showed the first four episodes unsubbed at Otakon last night! How happy I was as a Tezuka fan to see that, and then to have this first episode here subbed. Thank you. :) I can only hope someday more of his work will be available translated.

Amazing the trails we can go down. I bought a Astro Boy gameboy game and encountered The Wonder 3 as a boss, wanted to learn more about the characters and then I find out it's actually it's own separate series. This is so.... vintage. All I can do is think of how great it would be to see this made as a modern series. Thank you very much for uploading this!

Maybe we all should start a petition for the revival of the series that was going to be started by Studio Pierrot and a company called Digital Manga and demand that they start the designs for the series.

i was thinking of starting a petition to bring more original Osamu Tezuka mangas and animes to North America and Europe (obviously in English) via either physical or digital distribution, but i don't know of any good free petition websites that don't require my personal information, which i would want to give out for obvious reasons. If someone were willing to start the petition for me, i'd gladly advertise and support the petition, but i can't personally create the petition myself.

unless i can buy the series online on a site like amazon, i'm not going to be able to get the series. also i've searched a few times now for any copy of the show be it Japanese or English, but this was the only copy of the anime i could find. If you find a online seller for the anime, please let me know. otherwise this is the best i can do for now.

@abigailg93 The only thing i really would like would be if you could find someone who would be willing to translate Marvelous Melmo for free. Other than that i am doing this just for the joy of letting more people watch animes that are essentially impossible to find legally such as Marvelous Melmo or Wonder 3. Naturally if either of the shows are legally released in North America i'll remove them, but until then this is essentially the only means to watch these extremely rare animes.
