  • What is wrong with the engine?

  • @Rtchugg

One of the motor terminals broke and I never got around to fixing it because I'm not good at soldering.

  • How do you get the locomotive to move when it doesn't work

  • @TheCSX1542

The motor and gearbox are removed so it can be pushed/pulled.

  • @ilovenxstage how did u do that ? just yank it out or somthing?

  • That's the most realistic model of NKP587 I have ever seen. Aside from the tender being too small (Does resemble the original one in Hammond, IL) and the eccentric rod being too short, it was pretty good! Kudos

  • wait isnt the nkp mikado in hammond a lima mikado not baldwin.

  • The 587's tender was swapped with a berks tender before being placed on display back in 19??

  • @ripjump12 actually i think shes a baldwin ..i thought she was a lima aswell but the museum said shes a baldwin

  • sounds like you have a dc engine on a dcc track

  • hey iv got the same locomotive but does anyone know where i can get the over head number boards

  • i wish mth made a model of the 587

  • Oh, that would be sweet!

  • in g scale? now that would be cool.

  • would you happen to know where to find one? i would love one but as i hear it doesnt run good, but i can just change the motors or what ever part doesnt work

  • you can get one! just look up broadway imports they make a cheaper nicer one that makes sound and has smoke and you dont even have to have dcc!

  • um DCC would be a reson i would by something as DC is way below the level that i run trains at, i have seen theres and it is nothin close to the scale version of the NKP 2-8-2 such as this, i can always kitbash though

  • well sorry i'm 13 and i can only afford dc so sorry for tring to help you out. and the broadway limited looks a lot more like the real deal. just a thought. oh well sorry for helping.

  • well i didnt mean it in a bad way, im just saying im 13 too, hell i barly have much money for trains but im still getting DCC&sound, just gotta save up and stuff, btw BLI is one of my fav companys, but they need DCC cause when i get stuff from them i have to go find a decoder lol

  • oh ok and if i wanted to convert to dcc it would be so expensive buying 8 decoders for my 8 functional engines and a contoler and all of the work to install the decoders. nightmare! My track is bachmann, but i have various equipment from various companies.

  • do you volunteer for the ITM? i volunteer there too

  • Did you detail the locomotive yourself, if so can you tell me where you got the number boards on the sides of the bell, planning on doing the same to a possible BLI 2-8-2

  • bu it's soo nice.......ah dam it:D(does any one know of a good 2-8-2 too use as an engine to kitbash #4960 of the Grand Canyon RR?)

  • This one ran OK when I first got it, even though it would only pull maybe five or six cars on level track, but now one of the wiring terminals on the motor is broken (happened during one of my many attempts to get this thing to pull a little better). Right now I've just removed the gear box so it can be operated as a "dummy" unit until I can fix the terminal.

  • @ilovenxstage i want that 2-8-2!!!

  • My genesis 2-8-2 never ran even when it was brand new. A waste of $100...

  • i don't think hardly any of them run. there was a defective gear in them.
