  • Damn, your FREAKIN INSANE. I would go crazy trying to set up a shoot on a snowy moutain side and actually change cloths on it!

  • Respect!

  • lots of respect if u make this movie

  • this is....amazing

  • This is incredible; your dedication to your art is remarkable, and highly inspirational to watch. I can't believe you trekked up through that weather with all your equipment! Very impressive :)

  • Excellent video, excellent music, excellent furry boots.

    I love this project!

  • You've definitely got balls!

  • You're incredibly, not that nobody's told you. I'm looking forward to the film as well, look slike it'll have a very 'Shadow of the Colossus' or 'Ico' feel... but they're games, you normally don't get that in cinema. I think the film industry needs someone like you, there are definitely too many formulaic films being made by directors who put in zero effort. Not to sound cynical... Good luck bro, hope it goes well!

  • You look like a 'modern' Atzi; you know, the guy they found in the Alps that was killed with an arrow about 2K years ago.

BTW, How is your grandmother doing?

  • your girlfriend is nice.

  • I agree, does she have a sister?

  • fdsf

  • This is awesome!!! I can't believe you changed and got made up on location in those conditions... Maybe in a couple weeks you won't need the make-up anymore and your clothes will actually look like that. Hehe :oP

Congratulations for getting this far and good luck with the rest!!! I can't wait to see the film!!!

  • man i am really impressed by your work! This whole project seemed to be impossible but you're so ambitioned that you take everything with a smile! One can really understand what this film means to you. You've got my respect! keep it up, you are awesome

  • great shots,music fits,good timing,your smiling

remove all wet socks asap in snow

  • I'm impressed at how much I resist the urge to harshly criticize this guy due to my slowly accumulating respect.

  • I would have used walking sticks when caring all that gear to at least help ballnace yourself out.

Also, ALWAYS a rule of tumb, BRING DUCT TAPE!

  • Snow*

  • Filming in slow is hard. I know this firsthand from snowboarding, it takes so much time to set up.

  • Love this guy! DO IT MAN! we want you to succeed!

it's the same thing that the guys who did "Easter Bunny Eating My Candy" did but there were two of them!

Congrats and i wish ya luck

  • This is amazing footage! Wow!!

  • what's going to be the final Movie?

  • Well done. You are a doer, not a talker. Don't forget that.

  • BEAUTIFULL NATUR

  • So thats the movie? wheres AlPacino?

wheres Darth Vader? wheres all booby sexy grilz? naaah joking!!..get Polaris snowmobile.

  • I get constantly accused of doing one-man film making...one of these days, I'll find someone to hold the camera for me...sniffle...

I AM SO ALONE!!!! (Hmmm...good subject for a film!)

  • that cracking from the mic is super annoying.

  • I'l like to see you going up hill you had a tough time coming down. You need some wheatgrass juice.

  • Don't break the camera before the movie even starts shooting!!!

  • hey

    look a my rap plz

    its called

    rap about richard (me)

    and

    rap against charles

    thank u

  • wicked cant wait to c the next part

    all the best

  • Gosh really good.....first thing I have seen on you tube, as I joined today!

Can I suggest, When you are setting up the next shots can you say what it is you want that take to show

Also....lone film maker? How can you zoom in on yourself going down the hill.

Keep it up and take a thermos of tea out with you next time!!!

  • I can't zoom in on myself... OH! Ok. I wasn't being clear - what I meant was, 'on a long lens' , did I say 'zoomed in'?

Explaining the shots - yep, I won't do that for all takes as that will get dull for people and I want to try and theme the different blogs as much as possible as opposed to just banging out 'another blog where I explain every shot'. But yes, I will give more context in later blogs. :-) Thanks for watching!

  • Dude, give it up...Will Smith has perfected the art of the ONE MAN FILM!!! Haaaaaah.....

  • lol! But of course someone was filming him in I am Legend?! And there was a sound recordist and set designer and other actors and director and producer and an entire massive Hollywood crew... It is I am Legend you're referring to?

    Best

    Rob

  • Dude, I was just rippin on ya...anyway, good luck with the project...Best regards....

  • sdf

  • Nice adventure and nice family. Do you say what your intent is? very interesting so far.

Ya know, when we go see this in the cinema, some of us are gonna so proud to watch it because we knew how long it took to make and what you did in order to complete it.

  • keep it up guys, great work, i can hardly wait to see the film.

  • Dont give up

i mean how many people can say they have done this.

    :)

  • We (all of us you-tubing family) are so lucky to see your work in process!! Keep warm!! (hugs)

  • Next time, put on your costume and makeup in the chalet and wear gloves inbetween filming, only taking them off when you've got the camera on. You don't need to be incredibly fit to do this, but just stay as warm as possible. or alternatively, try and design gloves which fit the costume.

Anyway, nice job this is really starting to come together as a film.

  • Beautiful music. What are you going to do about the film soundtrack?

  • beautiful footage rob!! This movie is such a labor of love! It was cool to see you weather proofing the camera!♥♥♥♥♥Brittani aka Rhonda :)

  • Keep it up :D

  • i really do hope he finishes it

  • Loved the music and the snow (but glad I am not in it. Hang in there, I know you can do it and so far, you are amazing. You will get more fit as you go.

  • should use this music in your soundtrack... or are u composing your own?

  • Yeah, he has to do EVERYTHING. Especially compose.

He's allowed to be helped, however, long as he does it with his own hands.

  • keep going, the sense of achievement will fire you for life when you finish. and i believe in you, cant wait to see the finished product. because i know you will finish it

  • keep it up man. Good luck

  • Great music!

  • Thanks for the blog but becareful both of you that looks dangerous.

  • I think that a walking cane might make it easier to walk in the mountain, carrying all that equipment. Maybe you should ask that kind Swiss man for advice.

Keep up the good work! Can't wait to see what happens next.

  • you are completely crazy, as are most of the world's brilliant people. good luck and keep going, you're a real inspiration

  • Hey Rob', it's Chris. Wow, how many shots did you get in the can? Keep going buddy...

  • I've never been so inspired..keep up the good work. All though, did you really have to change IN the snow?

  • You're crazy man! I admire you're ambition. Be careful and good luck!

  • I wish you the best...

  • Good Luck Rob!

  • Dont gie up Rob, try to make the best out of this film.

  • Dude, you are insane! But I admire your gumption. You could've chosen an easier setting! Godd luck with the rest of the shoot.

  • brill could you comment on my thinks

  • Oh man, that music is just depressing... really makes it seem like you're having a tough time.

Stay strong! Your journey is inspiration to me to follow dreams. Best of luck to you, Ryan

  • Hey, everything looks good so far, man.. it's gotta be a great experience. I never done any of this but I'm sure that for anybody who is not used to the intense weather, it will most likely wear you out in a flash. But keep it going bro, stay tough - great job.

  • I've been watching every blog and i have to say, your really amazing!!! For the people who thought he wouldn't get far: TAKE THAT!!

I can't wait to see you movie!! :p

  • amazing mannn I wish I could see that much snow butttt living in Mississippi U don't really get much...even the rare times that it does snow

  • Incredible! Talk about guts. You're dealing with everything from relatives to the army to the harsh weather up there. Keep it up man! Can't wait to see the film. Heck, if you finish this (which I believe you will) I promise to buy a copy.

One bit of advice. You seem to know what you're doing, but just for the sake of setting myself at ease, take good care of your equipment. No matter how bad you tear yourself up, you'll heal. Your equipment won't.

Find stable locations to take unstable shots.

  • Great stuff, Rob! Keep in mind that your body will adjust to stress. My husband reminded me of his experience in military basic training. At first he felt like he wasn't fit enough to do it, but as he pushed on, he got in shape. Make sure you eat plenty and get enough sleep. You can do this!

  • good luck. good luck. good luck. don't give up.

  • well, at this point there is nothing else for me to say other than you've gotta go for it and finish. imagine looking at yourself in the mirror after you've quit - that's the worst thing one can do - give up on their passion. you chose to shoot a film on your own - and as if that wasn't hard enough - you throw yourself onto a mountain to do that. how crazy must you be? awesomely crazy! i'm rooting for you.

  • "I knew I wasn't fit for this"... don't be so down on yourself. This is an amazing experience you're having and I'm so glad that your girlfriend is documenting it.

Keep up with all the hard work.

    Impossible IS nothing!

  • Great Work, Iv been watching your blogs for quite a while and iv now subscribed - Keep Up The Good Work!

  • Epic.

  • AWESOME subscribed for sure, this is the most epic journey ever, i'll be following this very closely! checking this everyday!

  • why don't you pull your stuff on a sled of some sort so you don't have to carry it all?

  • je me réjouis de voire la suite, c'est tellement drôle de vous voire filmer en Valais.

  • If it's successful... the media will publicise it...your youtube hits will multiply by eleventy cagillion

    You can do it :)

  • keep it going dude. cheers from Mexico.

  • are you going to compose your own soundtrack as well? Guess you have to if you are making the film completely alone.

  • Hah, goof point.

Is this guy incredubaly talented or just stupid?

  • Amazing! keep up the good work!

  • chin up sunshine, yer doin a grand job! :) though i know you will, i`ll say it anyway. Stick at it!

  • Im just saying I hope this gets to the cinema, and more importantly, that his dream comes true. not a lot of that happens when it really matters anymore...

    dont give it up!

  • i get tired only with wathcing

  • How long is this film going to be?

  • More than 1:17 hour, that's what he previously said. That means quite a lot of footage I bet. He couldn't have filmed more than a minute or so of the movie in that first day I bet.

  • That's exactly what I was thinking. Those are rough conditions to work in considering then checking to see if he got the footage he needed. It's quite ambitious. I personally would have set the film in a tropical location. haha

  • OMG!! if u give up i'll beat u up! You gotta keep goin!

  • That is wicked, maybe you need some heat packs.

  • K33P 1T UP! Not many people have a dream that they can stand by like you can. You are a driven individual and I hope to see you continue with this ammazing work.

  • NOOOOO!! Dont give up!

  • You shouldn't give up! This is by far the best project I've seen, and you have done so much progress. It'll be worth the work!!!

  • WOW ! I am so happy you are making it! Don't you worry that the cold will sap your battery power for your camera? (or you might insulate it I suppose) Keep going! you have the force of the world pushing you to get the film done :)

  • i love what your doing, can't wait till its done.

Welcome to the less graceful side of filmaking. :)

    x

  • It would be incredibly hard for me to express how amazing I think what you're doing is. You have put so much into this project, and worked so hard-- Don't let a difficult first day get you down! I'm sure it will get easier as it goes along. And you can't give up now! With your determination, I am positive that you can succeed, no matter what. Just keep going!

  • you need some ski poles or something

  • I had no idea it would be so extreme out there. It looks SO cold! If you can pull this off, wow...

  • Can't beleive you made it this far man. You're so determined, don't give up now.

  • Rob, u can't give this up, you got to keep going, we all want you to continue, watch the first videos urself, this is your dreeam man!

  • depresses me just watching u struggle! u have patience! keep it up

    :)

  • Keep it up this will be amazing. Something to go down in Directorial History!

  • If you wern't fit before - you will be soon! Keep going!!!

  • This is cinematic first is the best thing since sliced bread! kicks Rick Astley into a cocked hat! Can't wait for day 2 of filming..... warm hug X

  • I love the relationship your girlfriend and you share. It just seems very lasting: you're very...willing to compromise, it seems. And you don't ever seem harsh or biting, or horribly sarcastic to one another. It's lovely! :)

  • awesome work, Just wondering though are all of your camera shots going to be stationary or do you have some way to have your camera move automaticaly to make it so you can do a "panning" shot. moving from left to right or vice versa

  • Great stuff. Good luck.

    =Lam=

  • YEEEEAAAY! :D finally you start :)

Yeah I recognise that tiredness, its so heavy al the camera stuff.

I hope you`ll get some more media attention, cause this is something very special that you are doing, such an amazing great idèe which finally becomes reality.

By the way, have you weighd al the equipment? I think you did that on one of your vids, I dont remember.

Keep up the great work :)

  • Oh man, don't give up!

  • keep going dude keep going, as i sayed before, you are the best on utube right now!

  • This stuff is very inspiring. I knew you were going to have a hard time carrying equipment. I lived for 3 months in the rockies, eating mostly cattails, but a few animals. I ditched half the stuff I started with in the first couple of days. You guys rock, I wish you the best of luck!

  • Been watching and keeping up with it all, just want to say that what you are doing is really inspiring and I really hope it all works out. Keep it up!!

  • Cheers from Sweden! I'm really excited in the project you're working with!

  • First day of filming, it's happening! Great job so far, I'm intrigued. Can't wait to see more!

  • Cheers from Oklahoma, USA! Keep at it, this is astonishing!

  • You're doing great!

  • GO ROBBO!!!
