It's mainly used by the muscles to produce ATP out of ADP by donating phosphate. And it's not found in "many kinds of food", only meat and fish. The name creatine is even taken from the greek word "kreas" which means, yeah.. you guessed it.. MEAT!

    The liver and kidneys also produce a significant amount of creatine.
