Not everyone can play a 12-string guitar. In fact, some really can't play a 6-string. It takes someone special to play a 12-string. The best 12-string players I have seen are Bobby Goldsboro, Jimmy Page, Glen Campbell, and three guys who played guitar on the Lawrence Welk Show, Neil Levang, Buddy Merrill (in recordings), and Clay Hart.
I was such a fan of his when I was a kid (and through my teens) that the only time my parents allowed me to stay up late was when he was on Johnny Carson so I could see him.
yeah...not a big national hit. was quite popular in Louisville, KY, as was his song "Pledge of Love" which was one of the biggest songs of 1968 in Louisville that year...even more popular than "Honey." Check it out. GREAT song.
@doglips1958 It made the Top 10 in Louisville, KY though. Most of his songs were very big around here. "Pledge of Love" was number 1 in early 1968 here. Nice video clip here from when we had good tv shows unlike now. 200 channels and nothing on any of them.
This was my favorite song of his when I was very young, maybe 11. I have this 45; brings back many memories! Thanks for posting this....I haven't heard this in years, but 35 or so years ago I listened it a lot! :)
yes, yes it does, my own hair looks like broccolli thats been left in a cement mixer over the weekend by some punk kids who that that'd be a real big laugh, and now look at me with my weekend cement mixer fermented broccolli hair.
@niallkennedy23 If you spinkle some beer, baker's yeast and sugar on top of yer Saturday-Sunday Cement Mixer Fermented Broccoli Hairdo, you'll have yerself a nice FUZZY hairdo come Monday morn.
Don't wash it out, and show up to work on Monday...then the punk kidz will have something to laff at...
@wormpiano When I was a teen I also had the Chocolate Spock hairdo, NOT because I wanted to, but , that's only way my straight hair wanted to lay on my hed.
There's only so much that Aqua Net can do for ya...

@JayBBluejay Don't forget to throw some props to Roger McGuinn, who loves the 12 String Rick so much, he seems to have thrown his 6 strings away.

@ggregsnyder Forgot about Roger McGuinn. I knew I forgot somebody.

This guy was so underrating--what a shame.

This man is awesome! Any song he sings is 100% perfection. He never screamed the words and he made you hear and feel all the words.
Way to go, Bobby! Am ever in love with you and Your music!

God, as a teenager my dad and I would take long car trips and listen to his 8 tracks. We wore this one out. Great song. Thanks for posting!

Love the 12-string guitar on this song. This song and "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin is 12-string Guitar 101.
