They all have their ups and downs, and rodeo just happens to have a lot of ups as long as you treat the animals right, which most people do. The calves aren't drug around either. They're tied down, and then they're released. The ropes come off easy. The calf itself can get out of the rope in like 5 seconds. Ever seen how those guys wrap up their ropes without even dismounting to untie the calf? They don't just rip its legs off.
