  • Hey @tubenn...look at this guy's credentials. Your worries are unfounded.

Awesome flying, beautiful airplane, really well produced video. The shot where you taxi, leaving the camera on the lawnmower is brilliant!

  • Very nice video. I turn to YouTube for inspiration as I look forward to my RV-8 first flight around springtime 2011.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • Good Lord! That has GOT to be the narrowest runway I've ever seen. What is that? 30 feet?

Sorry, but my 18 yrs of Air Force flying has spoiled me with 5,000'+ x 150' runways!

Loved the video! You're right....even the worst day of flying beats mowing the lawn, anyday!

    Cheers!

  • @Twister051 Right! Thirty feet. I only use the center part.

  • Great video, Red Baron. Nice to see you still love to fly.

  • hmmm... where did the lawnmower go at teh end of the video? hehe just kidding.

if i ever make an rv i will we painting it about like yours

  • Wonderful video. I want to fly desperately but flight school is so expensive. I one day would like to have a pilot certificate and a loehle p5151 for me to fly around

  • Obviously the markings of the 357th FG. Very nice paint scheme. Loved your video. Appears you have a nice setup there at the airpark. Enjoy. From a fellow pilot and P-51 mustang lover. Thanks for posting.

  • Mr. Ron Schreck,

Thanks for one of the most inspirational video that I've ever seen. I think I've review it over 10 times in the last year as it's quite the motivational piece. Being dreaming the dream for quite some time now (20+yrs). My Wife is from Charlotte and I'm longing to build the RV8 prior to retiring somewhere on an airpark. Again love your video and will review when I need a fix or feel a need to put more cash into my plane fund! :-)

    Regards,

    Rick

  • Very nice video Ron. I hope to be done with my 8 by spring/summer 2010... Keep the vids coming...

  • Wonderful Vid, Mr. Schreck! You should put this in van's advertisements! I'm starting my 8 QB, and look foward to some great stick time. BTW, hows the 200rv noise?

  • The 200RV is noticeably smoother and quieter than any metal CS prop I have flown behind. You can get quieter with a 3-blade prop but will probably find your cruise speed will suffer by a few knots. You will love your RV-8!

  • Really enjoyed that, well done! You're living my dream, mowing the lawn not withstanding.

  • Great video! Thank you for sharing!

  • Thank you WMG for ruining yet another great video.

  • I should be studying for finals... but dreaming about flying around all day is way more important right now!

  • Thats what i did, failed my exams and now i cannot join the RAF........get on with yer studying then fly later lol

  • Ron, that's the coolest thing Ive ever seen! That's my kind of flyin'! I can't wait to get the RV4. Well, I just might get an 8.

  • The low-over-the-water part looks scary. What are you thinking in regards to an engine out and emergency landing? From the video it looks like you'd be stuck ditching in the water or flying into trees on the beach, either situation your plane is totaled and you're probably dead. Also I doubt you had 500 foot separation from the boat or the bridge.

The leather gloves are priceless though. Maybe your paint job's fumes got to you and you really think your a ww2 fighter pilot? (hehe just kidding)

  • Zoom climb. Parachute.....

Same problem with extended over water flying, night VFR/IFR. Could stay on the ground and not worry about such things. What fun is that?

  • @tubenn Not WWII. Vietnam.

  • HEHE! Nice video poor grass gets no lovin:)

  • G`day - great video. What size prop you running ? What is the advantage or benifits for smaller prop.

  • That's a Whirlwind 200RV prop. It looks small but is actually 72-inches. The blade twist was optimized for the higher cruise speeds of the RV's. It sure is smooth and fast!

  • Hello Ron - Fun video....I beleive you may know my brother-in-law Bill Crothers he flies an RV-8 too. I am married to his sister Sally and we live in JAcksonville, FL. Bill was instrumental in me earning my wings. Two years ago At 52 Sally and I bought our first airplane and I acheived my private pilot certificate. Now, more than ever, wish I were 30 years younger. Hope to see more videos like this one......Tally-Ho

  • Bill and I have been flying formation together for nearly two years. At 52 you are hardly at the end of your flying career. The best years are still ahead of you.

    Ron Schreck

  • That's a great video...I really like the first song (when the hangar opens)...Could you tell me the name ?

    Thanks !

Lionel LAURENT French RV6 Builder (almost ready for the first flight !)

Thierry Girault RV8 builder (Fuselage) Paris French

  • Nice video, well done in all aspects. Makes me want to build an RV!

  • Shreck, way too much time on your hands. Well, at least you make good use of it.

  • Well done & creative, topped off with good music

  • Ron, you do good work, flying to 109 of NC's public use airports to cool videos. I want to be just like Ron when I grow up! Take care, Tom Freeman (NCDOT Aviation)

  • Same as mowing... the blade isn't in the same axis, that's all...

    Beautiful !
