The candor of the lyrics of this woman's songs are beyond parallel. Jagged Little Pill (in my humble opinion) was the most forward, powerful a poiniant album in decades. A woman with a message...and the beauty is that she gets her point across without a bit of whining (a Gen X pastime).

The '90s will be known for many things. Of the best will be the pure feminism in pop music. An entire generation of talented, energetic, guitar playing women singer/songwriters with real anger and a real message. A Morrisette, S Crow, Jewel, M Ethridege were all out at just the same time. Pity they were replaced by dumb, witless fluff, devoid of any message save for "me and my fashion statement." Nice to know that intelligent women once did have something to say.

I knew who) considered Jagged Little Pill to be "anti-male." For the life of me, I have no idea why.

This brilliant artist might sing of the chagrins of a single woman ("angry white female" is what one magazine called her") but one would be hard pressed to not identify with the anger in these lyrics regardless of your gender or orientation.
