  • your best tune buy far ...kick on old men...i saw u at glastonbury..... valentino brighton

  • "There's one of these in every town" ........Den Scoth!

  • Scary how this song becomes more and more relevant as it gets older.

  • everytime im feeling down i put the ear plugs in and blast this. i dont stay down for long

  • carnt even afford to have a few drinks in the pub now its way to expensive

  • @dragonfitter What fucking pubs?...they are all becoming Takeaways fella... :-(

  • Seeing these live again tonight! love it!

  • from some reason this tune reminds me of dublin in 1995 and 1996

  • levellers have to come to sheffield i need to see them live!!!

  • I remember an episode of Eastenders where Phil Mitchell had a relapse and this was playing in the background LOL

  • Definately in my top Ten bands! missed them when they played Perth, Scotland, hope to rectify given the opportunity. xx

  • oh the old days

  • this band, along with the pogues, made me take up mandolin & play folk music :D

  • Just realised this is the pub on Devonshire Rd, Chiswick that became Gordon Ramsey's failed gastropub. Ironically- with the food in there- he never had a Hope.

  • Kdy to běželo na ČT2?

  • Thanx for the upload... and somebody can explain to me... how is it that this incredible band has no more good enough videos? I really hope to see some day a few about the song "Haven´t made it"

  • 2 Rt Wr Left xB- ) x

  • I miss Brighton :o(

  • Good song.

Terrible video even for the year!

  • Love this song..but whats is about?..another cynical sneer at the establishment, capitalism, rich people..people who work or just a great blast?

  • @PeckhamExile I think it is about helplessness. About having no future, nothing to look forward to, because of what the people at the top decided. It's about being abandoned by the system.

  • @krazykittykat100...Thanks for that Kitty...I thought it would be on those lines...but they never seem to fail to miss out on a chance to dig out anyone who has accomplished something in this world...there are also a lot of people out there who have decided to drop out themselves..great song though eh?!

  • @PeckhamExile Got to agree with you there mate. I think its to do with the emotion they put into it.

  • @krazykittykat100 ...yep...thats what music id all about to me...stuff the politics....great band

  • @PeckhamExile Except capitalists don't accomplish anything, apart from managing to pass other people's achievements off as their own. Who built the pyramids? Not a fucking clue history doesn't know their names, but I'll tell you this, no Pharoah hauled a single stone.

  • @krazykittykat100 It was written as a critique of the fantasy culture which surrounded the national lottery and how the Murdock media peddled the view that 'it could be you' when in actual fact it probably on odds of over 14 million to 1 never will be. The sheeple have had the certainty of a pension in their old age replaced by the pipe dream of a big win.

  • @Tohellwithoursouls

"Thats sad/ thats right/ another night/ of someone elses fantasy" seems to fit the mood.

  • @Tohellwithoursouls ...Much the same then as people who play bingo, do the pools, on line roulette, have a flutter on the gee gees or the greyhounds every week...but because that money grabbing capitalist scum vermin cretin Murdoch is behind it they band obviously feel obliged to have a pop...have they ever done anything that hasn't got a 'cause' behind it?..a song for songs sake?...Because they are one hell of a great talented band.

  • @PeckhamExile Yes, people from the same social background as who play bingo and do the pools. Because they see gambling as their only chance of getting ahead in life, and in all honesty it's often more likely than by any other means. They chose the lottery as an *example* of working-class gambling, one that fit the song better than other examples.

  • @Spartacus21C Good points Spartactus...but without dreams you have nothing.

  • @PeckhamExile Indeed. I'm not criticising people for wanting something better, I'm criticising the system for leaving us with no realistic means of getting it.

  • Does anyone know if there are sniffer dogs at the Beautiful Days festival please?

  • why would you want to know that i wonder

  • Hahahaha! Love it.

  • Excellent song!!

  • iam not keeping on but they are good songs ok m8

  • Jeez! I'd nearly forgotten how great The Levellers were! Love this :-) Whatever happened to them....?

  • still going strong I saw them play yesterday at beautiful days the best live band ever :)

  • They're still around. Still making albums. Still touring. And they do their own festival in the summer. A few years after Zeitgeist, they made Hello Pig, which made them lose most of their standing. Fortunately they've returned to their old standard and they're back to being brilliant.

  • remember buyin this as a single about 16, brilliant song

  • This song was my first encounter with the Levellers and they stayed.

This song is fantastic, to be honest there is no minor song to find on Zeitgeist.

Zeitgeist is one of the best albums made, it's divers and the folk/rock sound is very enjoyable.

  • Great song, shame about the audio/video sync

  • fuckin legendery remember when they were at the wickerman

  • brilliant tune!!!!

  • love this song brilliant

  • oh gawd this is such an amazing song, love the levellers :D

  • a proper band!

  • at concerts, the lead singer says that there is a hope street in every town...

  • I lived on Hope Street in Alfreton, Derbyshire whilst growing up - aka Preson Avenue. This song takes me right back there. LEVELLERS - SIMPLY AMAZING, LOVE EM!!!

  • @dannyboi435 Which is very correct. I mean, people visit all the touristic hotspots in cities such as Dublin, Belfast, Prague, Paris, Brussels, ... but they forget only a few miles away in the suburbs there's misery, unemployment, alcoholism, criminality, ... This song makes so much sense once you've been wandering in those suburbian towns a few times. I was introduced to the Levellers by a former teacher of mine, maybe the best thing I ever learnt in school ;)

  • @dannyboi435 his name is mark by the way

  • @dannyboi435 Lived on Hope Street in a few cities, my friend.

  • I want to see them back!!!!!

    Love them sooooo much

  • thanks for uploading this

been looking for it for ages.

  • thank you for this video!

  • OK thanks hateful94, shame the audio is slightly out of sync with the video. The person who ripped it converted it to an AVI file, not always the best file type to use for video.
