  • Ustad Saami performed in India last year. Many of the videos from his visit are available on Youtube. Raag Sohni, performed in India, is available.

  • Music sees no barriars and Indian sub continent has only one culture,,,there is no musical boundary between India AND Pakistan...we are one.....someday a good breed of politicians would certainly emerge across the the borders and there would be a one great nation once again....remember the period of Ashoka, the great.....we are spending our energy on small matters,,,we, if are united, we can rule the world,,,,,,but to alleviate the miseries of the poors , only.................

  • I had first and only time hear ustadji in a CD prepared called khayal darpan...a must see for all music lovers across the border

  • Arif Bhai mere paas alfaaz kum pad gaye hain...aapki kya taareef karun itni khubsurat bhent upload karne ke liye..........shukriya

  • I have heard many versions of this song (as it is one of my favourite world songs) and i am so happy to discover this singer, i didnt know about him...but he is simply WONDERFUL ! ... And the images that you (the uploader) used for the video are lovely as well, showing simple & normal people and life - those people who always keep the world spiritual & beautiful. Thank you for posting this.

  • @sarahicelands yes he is wonderful isn't he. ustad naseeruddin saami is such an unassuming person. he is gifted and has dedicated his life to his art.

  • True. This is one amazingly moving rendition. However, equally heart warming are the comments of love, peace and mutual respect on this page by music lovers of two neighbouring countries. I would request viewers to share this with friends and the younger generation to spread peace, love and harmony amongst us all. Too many tears shed, too much blood spilt, many lives lost....its now time to bury the hatchet and come together. Live and let live! Thank you Arifbhai!

  • Thanks a lot Arif Bhai. We Indians are proud of Pakistani Ustads. They help broaden our horizon. long Live India and Pakistan.

  • Could someone explain the text of this beautiful song? Thanx a 1000.

  • Beautiful! I am just speechless.

  • OH my Godddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd..where was this great voice??? it doest look a male singer singing but it seems a beloved calling out for his lover in desert of Rajisthan, Sassi searching and crying for Punnu in burning sands of Thal,. Radha begging Krishan to come back, Such a strange is relation of love, it always makes to suffer but this suffering gives eternal pleasure. I want to love again n again, suffer again n again but Khan sahib ur voice heals the sufferings. Long live Janab,

  • What an amazingly moving rendition! What a voice! Ustadji deserves a much greater audience. Any likelihood of his visiting India?

  • you are right. though i am not sure if he has been invited to perform in india, i wish that mr. muzzafar ali would invite him for the annual khusrau festival. saami saheb would shine on that platform.

  • wohi log, wohi raag, wohi baatein, wohi hasi,

hawa mei wohi mahek. yeh saradh humari badkismati hai.

Magic to the ears. very popular folk song of my Rajasthan. I did not know its popular in karachi as well.

    excellent post arif

  • I know what you mean.

Sarhad bani, woh to purani baat ho chuki. Ab to logon ko dosti ha haath badhana chahiye aur purane zakhmon ko bhul jana chahiye. Issi mein sab ka fayeda hai aage chal ke.

    Thank you.

  • Namastay sir jee,

Sir jee jis tarah hawa, pani, ka koi dharam nahi hota ussi tarah sangeet ka bhi dharam nahi hota..

Ustad baday Gulam ali kis ka sarmaya thay, India ya Pakistan? wo to sangeet aur insaniyat ka sarmaya thay.. hamaray buhat loog aapki taraf ja kar gatay hain, issi tarah aapka sangeet bhi hamaray haan charcha hai..

  • Ustad Bade Gulam ALi Once said:

"There would be no hate and dividence of heart in sub-continent if one member of each family in the sub-continent learn classical music"..

Sir jee Sangeet mian bari taqat hai.. ye kaise dil se nafrat dur karti hai.. Lata Jee ya Rafi ko suntay hue hum sab bhool jetay hain.. jis tarah aap loog bade gulam ali ya yahan aur dosray singers ko suntay hue sab nafrat ki batain bhool jatay hoo..

    Regerds,

Sarhad par se aapka ik bhai..

  • Padharo Maaro Des

  • @mfarazqq "Sarhad par se aapka ik bhai.." well said! We indians and pakistanis citizens generally dont visit each others countries but when we go to western countries and meet each other, we realize that we are culturally more close to each other than we thought. Same clothes same food same music same sense of humor. I agree music in our bloodstreams really binds us if not anything else.

  • Namastay

Greetings from Rajasthan. Thanks for posting this bandish. It is really an enthralling melody. We call in Maand in in India, do you call it the same in Karachi? I cannot convey in words but it gives my heart great solace to art transcending all borders. Thanks once again.

  • Yes Vivek it is Maand!
