Factoring Quadratic Expressions

so before i did it your way i got (-x-8) (x-3). is this wrong? when i do the math to check i get the right answer. When i do the math to check your answer: -1(x-3)(x+8) i get an inverted equation, being: x^2+5x-24.

can someone check this for me?

also can you show us how to factorise using the equation ax^2+bx+c, where a,b,c are constants and A is not equal to 0

Sal, factoring becomes quite the pain when the coefficient of x^2 is not 1. Will you be doing some of this type, I can often do them but is there a standard method that always works for these.

e.g 6 x^2+23 x+21
