so before i did it your way i got (-x-8) (x-3). is this wrong? when i do the math to check i get the right answer. When i do the math to check your answer: -1(x-3)(x+8) i get an inverted equation, being: x^2+5x-24.
thank you for posting this video. Its helped me a lot, and I think I mayjust pass my exam now. :) I do have one question though, what happens if X is greater that 1X or Xsquared?.. for example 5X?
One word rounds this up - excellent, really simple to understand, the constant examples are brillant to learn, many text books only show one example with one answer, with the rest of the chapter showing questions with no answers. Again excellent teaching.
hey, just wanted to say, im brushing up on math for taking the asvab, and havent taken a math class since the 8th grade. this video really helped me out. most other vids just assume everyone interested in learning how to solve algebraic fractions undestands this step and neglects to teach it. thank you for your help! like your teaching style!
its hard 2 pay attention in class where the teacher has more students and i have add so i drift off in class constantly and with a more secluded class its easier to concentrate
Sal, factoring becomes quite the pain when the coefficient of x^2 is not 1. Will you be doing some of this type, I can often do them but is there a standard method that always works for these.

can someone check this for me?

what happens when you have x^3 or x^4 or x^5 in the beginning of the equation?
also can you show us how to factorise using the equation ax^2+bx+c, where a,b,c are constants and A is not equal to 0
