I think he commits suicide to be with her, even though she tells him to move on without her, and they meet in death.

When I first watched this and read the lyrics, I thought that Kaito was an obsessed follower of Miku. They had one chance meeting a long way back, and since then was thinking of her. Then he sacrificed to a flipped cross with her in mind, and never actually reunited until the end. The burning buildings and his heroic stature are in his imagination, as is that touching moment when he held her, and Miku's voice singing as back-up even though she's not there.
This is the kind of music that moves the soul. American music could never compare to this because the feeling isn't there. Vocaloid does something that Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, and all of the others could never even hope to accomplish. That would be putting soul into a song that means something and not singing just what everyone else wants to hear..
you know this could be an continuation to the daugter of evil story. like after mikus death, you see more into what he is thinking, and his concultion to take revenge on the princess. with the right video you could really change the story to that.
Personally, I think the story is that their home gets ravaged by war (making it "monochrome". To protect Miku, Kaito goes off to fight (coloring it red) and it last a couple years. He almost dies and hopes Miku will move on without him, but he survives, the war ends, and when he returns, she's there waiting for him.

This was one of the first Kaito songs I ever listened to... I remember not being able to understand it very well, and therefore not liking it, but today I decided to give it another chance and I'm so glad I did!

I think both miku and Kaito were orphans, but one day kaito heard about how Miku was going to be the sacrifice and he burned down the church for reasons of he wanted to protect miku. As more and more people came looking for her, he kept protecting her/destroying people. However, one day he was captured and shot when he wouldn't tell his capturers where he hid miku. He escaped though, and huzzah, they're alive. :D

This was one of the first Kaito songs I ever listened to... I remember not being able to understand it very well, and therefore not liking it, but today I decided to give it another chance and I'm so glad I did!

<3 There's nothing at all against Christ in this song--I can see that! I love how it zooms in on the cross at the end. I'm still trying to figure it out, but it seems there's a Christian element in it! ^_^

@Songmorning I think there's a contraposition between the people that abuse miku in the name of God -the people who Kaito kills- and the genuine faith, represented by the innocent girl. That's what I think, anyway :)

OMG i've been looking for this song for ages! O_O it was the first vocaloid song I ever heard, and I'd sing the melody to myself but I couldn't remember what it was called or where to find it! thanks so much for putting this up!
(oh, and my crappy idea of the song is that their home is burned in some kind of war, and Miku and Kaito's families are both killed. Since there is so much evil going on, he swears to kill anyone who dares go near her...idk)

I think both miku and Kaito were orphans, but one day kaito heard about how Miku was going to be the sacrifice and he burned down the church for reasons of he wanted to protect miku. As more and more people came looking for her, he kept protecting her/destroying people. However, one day he was captured and shot when he wouldn't tell his capturers where he hid miku. He escaped though, and huzzah, they're alive. :D

Confusing.. :/ But I feel like there might be some kind of "religious" part to this story .. Possibly? Like.. Maybe Miku was the "chosen one" of some sort(because of all those pictures at the end). And Kaito just wants to protect her. Anyway~ Beautiful song. This PV kinda reminds me of a video game. :)

I think KaitoxMeiko sound better together, but when its KaitoxMiku, and Kaito is the more dominant singer, Miku's voice manek a beautiful kind of echo behind his voice.

this song makes me cry. i literally burst into tears when I hear it. When I first listened to it, I didn't like it, I thought it was boring. But then I came back to it, and now I cry whenever I hear it. Such a pretty song.

the art is amazing, and i really like the PV as a whole. the wonderful song, with the voices of the vocaloids.... I would love to sing this song sometime or teach it to my boyfriend and do that background singing miku is doing lolol ^-^
My only issue with the voccaloids is i can't help but to be jealous of those ARTIFICIAL voices >.< why can't I accept that it's beyond my reach?
