stephen king with this book in my opinion is on the same level as harper lee and carson mccullers with the "coming of age" theme...his level of insight and mastery of the language is truly worthy of a pulitzer prize..too bad he didn't get one

the book was awesome. still haven't seen the movie but to anyone reading this who enjoyed the movie, do yourself a big favor and read the book. it's such a gnarly look into the effects of the vietnam war, and just that whole era.

The book was so much better, because the movie ruined my image of Bobby and Ted! The book will always be better than the movie in most cases. The acting was good though.

If you ever get a chance, read it! Great book.

Yeah, the book, undoubtedly, rocks. And although I haven't seen the movie, I'm sure that it can't be better than the book. This clip sure supports my claim. Even though Hopkins acts decently well, he sure ruined my image of Ted too, and the Bobby, whoever acted his part, just plain stinks! :-)

I've never read the Stephen King book, but this scene is from William Goldman's book Magic. I'm pretty sure he wrote the screen play for this movie. Anthony Hopkins is in the movie version of Magic too, but this scene isn't in it, actually it's just the story about Nagurski in the book. I'm pretty sure Magic is out of print, but it's excellent so if you can get it read it.

if you really think that the film is good, then just go read the book and prepare to be spellbound.the film only takes up the first part of the book up until about 300 pages but if none of you have read the book then you dont know that bobby becomes a real troublemaker and heavy smoker.and carol ends up becoming sully's girlfriend. the book really is much richer than the movie and still the movie is amazing.

In the interview with the movie director.. He says that this special scene, he insipired in his grandfather, which was and old lonesome man and loved him a lot..

but the best scene for me is that one in which he is captuured by the fbi men and bobby touches the glass car and cries desperately.

Anthony sits there and talks, yet he just has incredible screen presence and his voice which makes this scene so memorable. Hes always watchable.

I know! this movie is so sad....its very moving.
