Canada was founded and settled by the Scots (including my family) and with up to an estimated 8 million Canucks of Scottish descent we obviously love Scotland because it is part of our nationality too. The pipes and the national anthem of Scotland rank right up there with O Canada here at home. Scotland, Wales and England should be seperate countries, but they should, together with Ireland form a loose confederation binding the celtic / english heritage.

I say old chap, your music is very similar to my interests, however this Scotland independence thing. If you go back 2k years, before Scotland & England existed the strongest kingdom was the ancient kingdom of Northumbria, which stretch from the Humber to the Firth of Forth. Before the Romans they called themselves the Brig antes. My point is people could equally argue a return to that territory if they were educated about that part of history, why split the country?

Just to join in. Canada was founded and settled by the Scots (including my family) and with up to an estimated 8 million Canucks of Scottish descent we obviously love Scotland because it is part of our nationality too. The pipes and the national anthem of Scotland rank right up there with O Canada here at home. It makes ME proud to be a Scottish-Canadian because of the great nation the Scots still have and the fantastic emotionally attached one they gave birth to.

We Scots joined the union because they were skint, now Scotland prospers we want to leave. The union consists of four countries, whereas I think England would be ok, what about the other two? Is it moral to force NI to join the south who cannot afford it? They will be forced to join the Euro which is in trouble. Or should Scotland take on the other two nations in effect forcing England out of the union? How democratic would that be?

I say old chap, your music is very similar to my interests, however this Scotland independence thing. If you go back 2k years, before Scotland & England existed the strongest kingdom was the ancient kingdom of Northumbria, which stretch from the Humber to the Firth of Forth. Before the Romans they called themselves the Brig antes. My point is people could equally argue a return to that territory if they were educated about that part of history, why split the country?

It irks me that people make it out as if the English forced Scotland and Northern Ireland into the UK when it was a Scottish monarch who formed it. The only country which can claim independence from England is Wales.
