I loved the original back then in the 80's but this new version practically moved me to tears, so much emotion, George Michael is just simply one of the most talented artists , ever.

I loved the original back then in the 80's but this new version practically moved me to tears, so much emotion, George Michael is just simply one of the most talented artists , ever.

George Michael was always a bit of a fanny but this takes the biscuit. How to murder a classic and turn the sublime into the ridiculous! I hope people just assume it's a joke in the spirit of Comic Relief and buy it anyway cos it sounds like George Michael has relieved himself all over this great song.

What is it with people using a ridiculous level of auto-tune type effects these days, it's distorted so much that it barely even sounds like him (it could just as easily be a bad impersonator). I can see why all the radio stations are slating it and why it's only reached 26 in the charts, very disappointing, even more so as it's a charity song :-(

They all laughed at George when he was caught wanking off an undercover cop in a toilet in LA. They cringed at the story where he was found to be knocking on random doors in a London hotel, decked out in a balaclava on a relentless quest for cock.

If you've ever heard George Michael sing, you'd know that he's the LAST artist that needs AutoTune to sing in key. He's one of the purest, pitch-perfect voices in the music industry.
He's simply used AutoTune as an effect, which is his artistic perogative.
Those who actually believe he needs to use it are clearly in dire need of some musical education themselves.

@mixman1836 I think the auto tune effect was a terrible idea (I know it's just an effect - he can sing and doesn't need auto tuning) but it's a shame as the effect has ruined what otherwise would have been a nice meloncholic remake of a very brilliant song. I'm quite sad that the effect has been used and if I'd heard this on the radio I wouldn't even have recognised it as George. I actually wish this auto tune effect would die off, especially when it's being used on artists who can actually sing

@mixman1836 yeah ive got to agree about the effect, its probably in homage to true faith's sequenced origin - if he'd just used a lush arrangement and 'sang' (like paul anka and smells like teen spirit) he'd be accused of taking the piss in a tony ferrino (aka steve coogan) fashion and missing the whole point of a large part of the song . the fella is still a talented musical artist despite his (almost comedic self destructive) infamy

I love George and nearly every tune he's ever done. He had/has the smoothest voice in music. If it's not anymore that's OK, but to sing ANYTHING through a tuner tells people he doesn't anymore. Sing it without the technology. You are so much better than this.
